Personaly tbh, i hate Si in many ways. tons of bugs, they add extremely little things in each version of the game, things that obviously could be in the previous versions but they always keep things out in order to have some tinny foolish things in the next version, (that simply does not justify the full game cost if you already have the prev game). The best example is player heights. They have it alrready in the game code since Cm4, but its disabled, and they are keeping that way untill the day comes to add it in a future version and tag it as "the Next huge addition to the game"

Go to hell SI fools. You're so lucky that will all this crap you give us, the game still remains good and no other software developper wants to build a realistic enough manager game. :nape:

as ive said before i totally disagree with you Alex, but even if they did do that (held back features) why shouldnt they? are you seriously telling me other makers dont do this?

True SI can get away with it more than others but not for one second do i believe that SI are trying to scam the buyer.

As Ruud says, at a consistent price of £17.99 its hardly expensive.

a small database update is too little to cost that from my point of view.
And tom yes i am. How many companies make games that have a new version every year? Apart from EA Crap, not many. Well, i guess we're all free to go get our extra meal of bugs for another year.

when i first known about the CM community and SI, I was totally shocked, they actually release patches.

I dont see EA doing this for FIFA.

I also was shocked to find out that SI actively work with the community and even releases header files so the community can make tools.

I dont see EA doing this for FIFA either.

And how many sports games release one version every year? Many. And how much do they sell? Full price, not SI "full" price.

And the thing about held back features...you only know about them since they released header files. Other games you wouldnt even know about them. Of course, any development team has to hold back features. Otherwise a game will never get released, since there is always more to do. Ok, you say they hold back a certain amount of features, so they can release a new version the year after. But do they just sit back and do nothing for one year? No, I dont think so. So for one year's of hard work that their development team put in, I think it's more than fair that they ask for a non-"full" price back.

And about these bugs...which game has got none? SI usually fixes most of the really annoying ones and ones that are serious. Cant really ask for more.

Ok, good to keep developing the strings. Obligatory even maybe. Not landmark news to start off with.

* "Player Form" & "Player Stats" screens - More pertinent information regarding a players form and match stats, presented in a user-friendly manner.
Could be good. Will make it a lot easier to get an idea of what kind of player your looking at.

* "Quick" tactic mode - Now you can shout from the touchlines to make small or full tactical changes without having to stop the match.
HELL YEAH. Waiting for an out-of-play moment to tell your team to pile on the pressure is a bit useless. Of course it already worked like this in CM3. :p

* Improved match engine realism - Working with Ray Houghton, the ex-Liverpool and Republic of Ireland player, SI have analysed every area of the match engine looking for areas to improve the engine to make it the most realistic experience ever.
Obligatory as well. Not doing this will have BGS on SI's tail in 4 years or even less :(

* Injury module revamp - No more "physio reports" needed after injuries as the physio's now come to you. Full feedback on injuries, including various treatment options.
That's nice. The kind of thing where Alex would say: "They could have had that in in CM4." And he'd be right.

* General UI improvements - Improvements to the user interface make it easier to find your way around the game and reduce the amount of mouse button clicks.
Less RSI then. I don't care. For FM I'd take a batch of RSIs.

* Ticker Bar - Not only can you gain score updates during matches but a configurable news ticker bar updates you on news from around the globe, or just locally if you prefer.
Yeah, good.

* Media overhaul - Loads more information is now given through news items using an all new "player bio" system, this is inclusive of, but not limited to, club landmark year news, better feedback on your start as a manager, more celebration of success and much more info about players in media items.
Good. A more realistic feel to the game, more interaction with the virtual world.

* Full Time Team Talks - With the addition of Half Time team talks to Football Manager 2006 , Sports Interactive felt it only fair to add full time team talks to allow you to comment on team or individual performances at the end of the match to the players. How will they react?
I'd have loved to spray some bubbles after getting that triple earlier today. (H)

Just to clarify things a little ...

Yes height and weight were added to the DB before the last game BUT the database research wasn't fully completed until this year (and also we hadn't finalised the issues surrounding altering these realistically according to training, professionalism (weight) and aging (height)).

This is quite often the case with our games where planning ahead has to be done for some features because of the time it takes to get things implemented properly ... another aspect of this is the evolution of 'manager mind games' into 'player-manager interaction' which was always planned but too big a task to undertake for FM2005.

Yours,

An SI Fool ;)

Well, a silly question but very important for me (depending on what you'll respond, I'll have to spend money this month or later XP)

Do you have any idea of what will be the System Requirements for FM06?

Thanks in advance :)

Tom

That Nice Guy
incase Marc doesnt answer ive read in various posts at SI that the system requirements havent been released yet but that they will be similar to FM05. I've read that said by various people

so ruud that means that it will take advantage of the Hyper thearding tech too rite?

P.S Can i make a feature request on SI forum? If they like it maybe they include it :D

actually wat i want is that we can declare our interest as managers to the board for a player. Not just declare interest in public. And maybe the media can then say that rumours link <x> player with <y> club. That would be cool ;) more realistic transfers is my point. :D

Yes, that's correct. FM 2005 already could handle dual core/threading pretty good, but 2006 will be even better, SI say.

About the feature: why not? Just sign up/log in, and post away (H)

I don't think it adds much, though, if anything. Unless the board would be a Real Madrid type board, and they'd go ahead and sign him for you, paying way too much fee and wages, leaving you bankrupt after 2 seasons. :S

Tom

That Nice Guy
Gian thats a good idea but i'll tell you now that it wont get into FM06, it would need too much media enhancing at this stage to do, but make it as a suggestion for 07.

I do hope the board buying players for you thing has been toned down, or taken out completely? That's the reason I still stick with 5.0.2 at the moment. (H)
