Out: FOX Sports World, In: FOX Soccer Channel?

September 29, 2004

Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation has filed trademark applications 78444142 and 78485747 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to register the names "FOX Soccer Channel" and "The Soccer Channel".

Multiple sources indicate that FOX is planning to convert FOX Sports World (US) into an all-soccer channel sometime in the first quarter of 2005.

But I don't blame them.. with GolTV now getting most getting most viewers, it has finally found a competitor that will do everything possible for FOx to fail. Competition is always...for US , that is ;)

FSW has a pretty limited budget compared to the other Fox outlets, they do the best with what they can.

What happens is ESPN uses their bigger budget to buy rights to La Liga, ect. and only shows it on ESPN Deportes. You also have Setanta, who are bastards.

This channel will be cool tho.

BTW FSWC has Seria A rights, only they are all replays, like next weekened they will show 3 different Seria A games from last weekened.

Fox Soccer Channel? Sounds exciting. Though I really hope that its more than just a name change and that more league liscenes are bought, such as extended Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie, Brasilian League, Argentine League coverage. Also the addition of more soccer shows and also more International games. I'd also like some J-League coverage to go along with Football Asia and Ganbare.

In other words I want more more more :rockman:

I think its just gonna be a name change really. They need to add more Bundesliga and Ligue 1 games. They allready have plenty of EPL matches. BUT I wouldnt mind seeing even more from the EPL:rockman: :rockman:
