Framerate issue on platform

This F*cking sucks. I got my Gamecube a year ago to play the new FIFA which was 2003 at the time. The game ran smoothly only having choppy framerate when playing too long. But the manual says every hour stop and let the Gamecube cool down. I did that and it stopped.

Now a year later I got FIFA 04 for my 14th birthday. But problem is after the third match or so framerate gets choppy for moments. After that game the next is unplayable because the framerate gets so bad you can't tell what the hell you're doing. It's for the whole game and after that one too. I tried to ignore it once and it got better for a moment but got worse again. Plus it has frozen on me twice. Once while playing a friendly and another in an unsaved carrer mode. Now when I think of 04 I think of choppy framerate.

I wanna play it badly. I am in love with the gameplay. I like having tons of teams to beat. But if framerate is bad and all I do is complain about this then its no fun. Can anyone please help me?

wen u switch on ur gamecube if u press red ( i forgot which letter it is) when fifa loads up it will say do u want 2 play in 60HZ mode if you play in this mode then on my game the framerate gets poor switch of this mode by doing the same thing i mentioned at the start but pressing no instead of yes so u play in the normal 50HZ mode. This always speeds up my framerate

When do I press it exactly? Before I turn my Gamecube on? Or on a specific screen?
