There is a rumour that a bug exists in the FIFA 2003 that you cant head the ball when its from your own player and no cpu oppenent nearby. I managed to head a free header once, but i don't know how I did it.
May be someone else managed to do it?
Please help.

You can header, it just sucks.

I did a cross with my left midfielder, the striker headed in.

Other than headers from crosses(including free header's) i manged to do a free header only once. That was a ManUtd vs Real match against my cousin. I made Veron head the ball from a free position (no one around) near the middle of the circle. But it happened only once.

BTW i headed using the Y button on the joystick (w in the keyboard)

Should work, I did it once too. I played against the cpu in an amateur match - long time ago... ;o)

i did it too once or twice, i guess that the trick is to recieve a REALLY high ball and then head it in some direction but i'm not entirely sure(:/) :nape:

yeah last saturday night i was playing some 2on2 and somehow and i don't know how this guy did it but he pulled off 3 headers in the open in a game, he claims he just pressed the header button but i've never done it before until that same night i pulled one off just pressing the header button... kind of ridiculous

Obvious answer.

Well, the official answer from EA Sports is that you can't do it!

I think it can happen sometimes becasue it's well known that there is a lot of scripted play in FIFA 2003 where you really aren't in control of your players such as automatic defensive clearances etc. The fact the cPU can perform headers when alone probably means the CPU has a glitch and takes over control of your player (ie. treats it as a CPU player like with the automatic clearances, free kick non-movement, etc.) and heads the ball.

If it was possible on any kind of other basis I think it would happen a little more often, even by pure accident. There are various glitches in the game like when a player holds the referee's card or when the goalkeeper gets tangled in the goalpost (ghost walking). This heading while alone is probably just the scripted play kicking in randomly.
