Ok...chill.
Tactic menu: Bring down the time wasting to rarely if you want to win games pressuring them. Take out target man. Push the tempo up a bit. Push the mentality one tick up. Just put creative freedom in your best players. Defenders must not have any creative freedom, their job is to take out the balls and not to dribble past the whole team.
Now I've been noticing this...the left and right-backs have a very important job in this FM 2006. There are tactics like 4-4-2 that don't need them that much. But as you play with one striker, they are needed for when the MCs are inside the box to deliver the final blow. Be sure to have left and right-back with good positioning, crossing, speed and tackling, and you should do fine. If are in difficult games, where they can't always go to the line, then put them crossing to 3/4 of the field and with lesser runs.
Don't advance Edouard Cissé upfront. Let him stay where he his. If you want him to advance, increase his forward runs. These forward runs are most effective when the value for Without Ball (or something like that) is higher. As you have two DMC, one should be totally defensive, making rare runs upfront, and with low creative freedom. The other can have more freedom, but still needs to compensate the other. I would recommend getting at least another DMC. Rochemback, Cana, Boateng are good choices.
Zé Castro is good, but Kompany is better. Put him. Btw, Ze Castro has 20 in passing, be sure to put direct passing on him.
I don't think Mokoena there is a good choice...if you want a shadow striker, that's fine...but to be a playmaker...i don't think so. As Zlatan said...maybe striker with a free role? That is something you have to do by your own. If you want him to be a SS, then maybe Rothen and Kalou have to do the whole job almost...then one of the DMC has to move upwards to control midfield.
Mido is good, but at least in my game, as I have trained him...very inconsistent and troublemaker. Frankwoski (sp?) is a great player...he should be in Striker position for a year (he's old), but Huntelaar is also great... Pauleta stays on the bench.
And don't forget...in difficult games, tick counter-attack, play by the wings and tight marking. If you are being overwhelmed, man-to-man marking...
Now go play that sh*t.
