frustration for new player

hello gentlemen: i just bought pro evolution a week ago and find the same frustrations that i did in previous versions. i started by playing amateur to get used to the controls. as i got better i could score tons of goals, the cpu players don't even sprint after u so of course it is easy to score and play beautiful soccer. so then i moved the difficulty to regular.

and oh my god do things change. i am a passer first and cannot pass into the goal area very often at all. if a cpu player is anywhere near me he 90 percent of the time takes the ball. if i try a through pass the sweeper or rear defender cuts it off 9 out of 10 times.

every single corner kick i take the cpu wins it and clears it. every single corner kick he takes, he wins the header and probably scores 9 out of 10 times. when he gets a corner, i know a goal is automatically coming.

so now that i can't pass down into the goalbox area without it being stolen 99 percent of the time, i try a dribble move or sprinting by a defender and 100 percent of the time the cpu gets the ball.

what are some tips you guys have? this is the problem i had with past winning eleven games -- amateur is too easy, regular i'm lucky if i get one goal, some games i'm lucky to get 1 or 2 shots.

it just seems very unrealstic that the computer can pass into my goalbox and maintain possession but every time i pass it into his goalbox he steals everything or knocks me down and doesn't get called by the referee. and how does he win every single corner kick? and no matter how fast a player i use you cannot sprint by any defender, they always catch up and take the ball. yet when he sprints with a medium pace player my man just stays behind him the entire way to goal.............

I started playing pes 6 for my pc a few weeks ago. I started on regular and played weaker clubs to get a feel for the controls. I've only really mastered regular in the past few days... so don't give up yet. Its good that you're passing alot, but make sure it's productive passing. Don't just pass for passing's sake. As far as corners go, you have to make sure all of the other teams attackers are somewhat covered. If not you'll get punished fo it almost every time. When they finally take the corner mover you're players right up on to the other players and try to time a good clearing header.I've also found that going through all of the training helps. Most importantly tho, keep practicing. It sucks at first, but you'll master it soon enough.

It's true you can't just pass into the box like you can around midfield. It's easier though if you dribble your way in into the goal area resulting in CPU defenders to chase you down which leads to some more space for a pass. If you really want to pass the ball directly forward to your strikers it helps a lot to set the camera view to Wide (so you have a better overview) and to check the radar before you pass!

That's because 9 out of 10 times a through pass isn't possible. Also here you should always check the radar. I know the AI of the CPU controlled teammates can be very stupid sometimes but once in a while they manage to run into open spaces for a through ball. Personally I'm very succesful by setting up a one-two pass, than wait for the player to get forward and when he's clear of any defenders and/or just on the edge of offside, pass the ball back to him using a through pass... mostly with a high through pass to avoid any defenders blocking it.

It helps to position your defender in front of the opponents player with R2 and make sure you head with the [] button (shoot). And ALWAYS switch to the player who's closest to the near post before the corner is being taken. The CPU is very good at heading the ball in at the near post, so it's a must to cover any incoming CPU players right there. When the ball goes over to the far post it should be easier to position or switch your player and head the ball away. Ofcourse it's always recommended to have tall defender who are good in jumping.

And about the dribbling, that's just practice. After a while you know where and when you can dribble and where you can't. You'll also learn when a CPU player is going to charge you so you should be able to evade any tackles or bodychecks. Just running in a straight line is a bad thing to do. Try to turn around, hold the ball, than sprint away, run a bit slower before accelerating again, try a fake-pass etc etc.

I dont know about you but i beat chelski in the 'top player' difficulty, albeit with a perfect players :P 2-0 was the final score. Maybe it's the perfect stats advantage..
