Gamecube FIFA 2005 Thoughts & Questions

Most of the posts I have seen about FIFA 2005 have been for the PC version. Now there are Xbox and PS2 threads. Well I am of that rare breed, a Gamecube user, and I am wondering if anyone has the GC version and has any comments.

Oh yeah I know it's available. I was more asking if bugs and such carry over to it. For example, is there a ref in the GC version?

gamecube user here! It should be as good as the other versions ...... I'm picking up the game in the next week or two, I'll let you know ......... try renting it first if you have doubts.

It's late so this will be short. But basically, GCN suffers from all the bugs we have been hearing about. No ref on the pitch (makes unlocking Collina kind of pointless), no text indicating subs were made, etc.

However I like the game very much. The ball tricks are useful and I have made some sweet coast-to-coast runs against my friends, though these do not work well against the computer. I haven't adjusted to first touch yet, although I have made use of it. The wings and off-the-ball control are more useful. Thank God chips are back, those really piss your buddies off . Headers are finally useful, I probably scored about ten decent header goals in FIFA 2004 in about 6 months.

EA has definitely improved the gameplay a lot. The presentation, however, is bizarrely lacking. They claimed they were trying to recreate the feel of a TV broadcast but I don't see evidence of that at all. Crowd doesn't seem much better. The players with specific faces seem uglier than in 2004.

Formation change bug for Gamecube

I have been going through the squads today making sure the starting lineups and formations are proper. As I was trying to change the formation for Brazil the game froze. Fine. I resetted and tried again. Same thing. 2 more times, same thing. I tried Uruguay, it froze again as soon as I hit L or R to change formation.
I went back to PSG( a team who's formation I had already changed), and it let me change formation no problem. Finally I tried to change AZ Alkmaar's formation and it froze again. Has anyone else been having this problem?
I am going to take the game back today for a new copy, so hopefullly it was just copy, but I don't know.

Hmmm. I have not had that problem yet but I will be on the lookout for it.

I changed PSG to a 4-2-3-1 with Armand, Yepes, Fanfan, Mendy
Cana, Mbami
Rothen, Ljuboja and Boskovic
Pauleta

I also changed Barcelona too 4-3-1-2 with Van Bronckhorst, Edmilson, Marquez and Puyol
Deco, Xavi and Giuly
Ronaldinho
Larsson and Eto'o
Also for Juve I am using the same formation as Barca with
Zambrotta, Cannavaro, Thuram and Zebina
Nedved, Emerson and Blasi
Del Piero
Ibrahimovic and Trezeguet

and for Ajax I am going with a 4-3-3
with Maxwell, Heitinga, Escude and De Jong
Van der Vaart, Galasek and Sneijder
Rosales, Sonck and Pineear upfront

Man, no referee on the pitch, that sucks.
In FIFA 2004 for GCN you could see the referee and the linesmen.
Are the songs cut this year too?
And is the language option available this year?

Another GC user 'ere. I was supposed to get it today, but seeing as the gay ass shops here in Hungary only have it on PS2, PSX, PC and GBA now. its been postponed to next week, when im in Lebanon for holiday, so looks like its gonna be a while. Anyway good to see the GC version isnt scrappuly done as many do to GC versions of games... but Im shocked about the GC with no ref. that is appalling! Is there no way to turn him on???

From what I can see, no way to turn the officials on. Another bizarre bug is that there is no "man of the match."

What strikes me as so odd is that FIFA is usually derided as "style over substance." Well this year I think the gameplay is fantastic but the presentation is remarkably shoddy.

well I'm not getting the game for gc then ........ maybe when the price goes down I'll think about it ........ damn you EA!

Maybe the North American version is less buggy ....... hopefully.
