Gameplay improvements

here are the new gameplay improvements, I would normally say I'm really looking forward to the imptovements, but I say that every year and come out half disappointed when the game comes out. They did recognize that they screwed up in FIFA 2005, with the gaps between defense, midfield, and forwards.

Check out the new gameplay features in UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE™ 2004 – 2005. They are as follows:

FORMATIONS
- Closing of midfield gap
- Team-mates provide more support via runs and movement
- Intelligent player logic to avoid getting caught offside close to the goal and in unrealistic situations
- Defenders will try to play further up the field (also helping to reduce midfield gap)
- More automatic player runs
- Additional players in the penalty area for crosses
- More variety in player position for attackers (formation offset)

DRIBBLING RESPONSIVENESS
- Sharper/cleaner turns at jog speeds
- More responsive 90 degree turns
- Improved control at sprint speeds.

CROSSING
- More crossing assistance
- Ability to cut the ball back to the edge of the penalty area when crossing from the by-line.
- Variable targeting and trajectories on crosses.
- More players in the penalty area on crosses
- Double tap low crosses have more variety in height, pace and trajectory

GOALKEEPERS
- The keeper has better control over deflections
- Improved keeper charge decision making
- More variety in keeper save animations

CPU TACTICS
A lot of work has gone into the tactics that the CPU teams employ in the 2nd half of a match in UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TM 2004 - 2005. - Substitutions
- End of Match if winning
- End of Match if losing

SET PIECES
The set piece system for UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE™ 2004 – 2005 delivers the following:
- Fast and intuitive functionality
- Call a corner kick set play
- Control the delivery (location and power) of the set piece
- A short set piece option at all times
- Realistic Ball Physics
- Re-use of the shot meter functionality (press and release)

RULES AND REGULATIONS
All new rules and regulations have been added to UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE™ 2004 – 2005. They are as follows:

BAD REFEREE DECISIONS
The potential for bad referee decisions has been added. This feature adds unpredictability and drama to a match, which therefore adds more excitement for the player. Additionally it adds character to the referees as they are now susceptible to “human” mistakes.

HANDBALL
The referee now has the ability to call a handball.
- A replay and commentary will be triggered to support this.

ADVANTAGE
- The referee will call an advantage if the fouled team has an attacking advantage.
- An advantage icon will appear in the top right hand corner of the screen if an advantage is played.
- If after a few seconds, it is deemed that the team does not have a sufficient attacking advantage, the foul will be called and a free kick will be awarded.
- Commentary will be triggered to support this.

INJURY TIME
The referee will now indicate the amount of injury time to be played at the end of a half.
- The injury time will appear as an icon in the top right hand corner of the screen.
- The referee can call 1, 2, 3 and 4 minute injury time.
- Commentary will be triggered to support this.

OMG, EA are simply awesome, they waited for PES4 to get out and now they make a new game with some ideas that i think are pretty cool in PES and they fix a lot of things that could make FIFA 2005 the perfect game. :rockman:

I would not say it's amazing to PAY for a Fifa 2005 update in buying the CL game
At the moment it is quite impossible to edit massively Fifa 2005 without make it crash and now we have to wait untill february to get a new game that will eventually fix all those problems ???
I really don't understand why a company like EA treat his ( her ) customers this way
One more year editing for nothing

No EA are not awesome. all these new changes should of been in FIFA 2005. Most of them are stuff which should be standard in any good footy sim.

Yes, you're right kobashi. These things should be standard in any football sim. EA recognise that so are willing to fix that. Its up to you whether you want to buy this game or not.

But since 2003 EA have slowly been building up the fundamentals of the game. I thought FIFA 2005 was a great game but what was keeping it back was all the gameplay problems that are said to be fixed on that list.

I think FIFA has a good foundation and I hope EA continue to build on it like this. Improved AI and tactics and I will be playing this game non-stop.

Then there's the set-pieces being fixed. EA are obviously listening to just about everything we've complained about here. I think they are on the right track. For once the "gimmick" feature (first touch) had an improvement on gameplay. Now they are planning to release a game which appears to make steady improvements on the gameplay rather than throwing in all these new features.

yeah don't get me wrong, i glad EA are finally listening to people. Big changes is something people been screaming for.

There are a few more issues which need to be fixed
75% of the CPU goals are headers It doesn't matter if you have Rio Ferdinand or Terry at the central back, it always comes
It doesn't seem to me that players's attributes are so important especially with the GK
I have recently implemented some CM attributes in my Sweetpatch Rosters and even stars GK with more as 90 handling are unable to block the ball and it comes to a goal
Another thing which I find very very annoying is the substitution thing. When the CPU subs, it should also change the tactic when it's needed. It makes no sense at all to have a CB at the place of a CF for ex. when the comp wants to preserves its advantage
This is a very basic idea which has always been messed by the EA's programmers. Changing players makes no sense without changing tactics rmost of the time

The list of gameplay improvements looks like a patch list for fifa 2005.
In fact, it is a patch list for 2005...still we are going to have to pay for mistakes done by EA, and we won´t even be able to play with as many teams as in the "unpatched" product. Outrageous.

One other thing I wonder about...have they improved (patched...) the shooting?

It definetly sounds like all our whining is paying off! :crazyboy:

Though seriously, it's good that they say they're resoliving so many issues. Then again, I'll believe it when I play it.

Re: Gameplay improvements

OOPS! I posted this information in another thread...my bad.

I'm glad that they seemed to have changed all of the things in FIFA 2005 that I didn't like. And at the same time, they've added the things I've been wanting: new free kick/corner system (similar to PES/WE), advantage, stoppage time indication, handball, and now the goalkeeper won't punch the ball out for a corner everytime.
