I wish they would try harder, and add more variety, and less scripted play. I'm sick of 'sweet spot' goals that some idiots use online: Also the ridiculous free kicks- it's all in the cursor placement folks!!

It seems that every-other-year produces a good version... '99; '01; '03... hmmm... If the trend continues, 2005 should be good! LOL God knows...

It's funny how that dude didnt even mention Pes3 in his sentence and yet you assume that by saying Fifa is crap that it makes you a fanboy. If Pes didnt exist Fifa would still feel scripted with not much to offer. MAYBE just maybe 2005 will be a step in the right direction.

notice the question mark.....

For those of you who do not recognise this important piece of grammar. Here it is

?

There you have it!
ITs the question mark!!!

What does fifa being crap have to do with being a Fanboy??? That question shouldn't even come up.

Anyways I was reading the article that was translated all wrong from the MM thread. And it says you can control the ball with your head and go in any direction tricking the defense. If this is true than it would be the first time I ever saw this in any Soccer game.

they said a similar thing in a pes review.

I'm not sure though, i translated it from german. It wasn't too clear.

Well, 2004 is far more realistic in some respects, but I found 2003 much more fun to play online. It seems like one's wading through treacle when playing 2004 sometimes, and it's just so damned scripted. I play a lot of PES 3, maybe that woke me up! :)

i see what youre saying, but for me i liked playing 04 with my friends better.

I guess the fun factor is just a matter of opinion.

Ha........u guys must be joking........either u dont play this game
seriously..........or u guys dont have any clue of how soccer is played now-a-days...........
:kader:

Why ?

Have u ever seen in real matches players scoring from half-field
and goli rooted almost every time ?

Have u ever seen wing-backs.....instead of lossing 3-0 ..........dont join the ATTACK them-self ?

Have u ever try and pass defender and pray to God that it works ......at the same time ??????

There are lotssssssssss of bugs in both Fifa2004 and Euro 2004
was awful.........u cant pass the ball to ur wish.............
:f***:

This game has become totally scripted..........its hardly anything
to do with the user's skill.........its al about pressing buttons........and winning..........
How can any true football fan say "I like Fifa2004" ???

btw: i have not played pes in my life.........but that dose not hide
the truth : Ea is producing Sh** every year........
But still there will be lot of expectation every year........because
they have the Fifa license.............

You all played it then did you, this FIFA04 thingy? I don't know whether to say you're lucky or not, and the same goes for me who hasn't been able to play it since it doesn't support gamepads.

HAHA! First game of any description I ever bought that out of the box did not support a gamepad to reconfigure or add to your taste and preference.

Imagine having to patch a game right out of the box to plug a gamepad in, imagine that the company is EA and even the patch doesn't work and yer fifty quid game is useless, hahahaha.

PES3 was a direct PS2 conversion and has all the X and O buttons and stuff, and yet I was able in minutes to set up a PC gamepad of my choice and get going.

I am a unique PES'er this time round as I can't slate the gameplay differences since FIFA won't let me play it unless I have arms like and octopus and play it with the keyboard [YUK!]

So, hopefully before they do anything to 05, they write code that allows people to plug in and configure a gamepad, its er ESSENTIAL is it not?

Then I can come back in November and moan about how bad the game is to play compared to PES4 :D

Pesman you are lucky that your pad did not work, as the gameplay in FIFA was absolutely terrible.

The control of players was awful, the response time terrible, and 99% of the time when one on one with the goalkeeper you never shot. The goalkeeper also knew where the majority of your crosses were going to, and the usual chasing after the ball despite you wanting to run the other way happened. Throw in the dodgy passing and you can be very glad indeed your pad didn't work.

The videos of the new games still show no changes. Long range shots going in, poor control from top players. A new innovation is that you can move players at throw ins, good god why haven't they thought of that five years ago? The main feature of the game is off the ball control, something you need to have either three hands or a massive joypad for.

Last years FIFA was poor, this years looks no better.

PES on the PC was worse than the conversion of FIFA. Just about everyone had slowdown problems, when not only the frame rate drop, but the game speed dropped. The gamepad support for FIFA isn't very good, but eventually I got mine to work whereas PES never worked properly. PES also always crashed everytime I exited the game. Luckily this year I can play them both on my Xbox so I won't have any such problems.

Ah, but Andrew you missed my point, it was not how PES or FIFA behaved AFTER you config'd yer gamepad, rather my point was that in one game you could do it, in the other you could not.

A vital error methinks on EA's part that they launched a game on all formats and didn't include the option to configure the associated gamepad.

Not so bad for some PC's users if or who could get the patch to work, but the poor ole console guys were totally shafted as I also found out when I exchanged my PC version for the PS2 one only to find the same damn problem, only this time totally unfixable.

As I stated in another post here earlier in the week, what's the favourite serious error or fundmental mistake for this year's game? They have had at least one of them for every game launched since around 99.

The only reliable thing about EA is that they will prove to be unreliable.
