Hi there.
I just bought a GeForce FX 5500 (256MB), I installed the latest NVidia Drivers (78.01).
My System Specs are:
Processor: Intel Pentium III, 1GHz.
S.O: Windows XP (SP2)
DirectX Version: 9.0
512 MB RAM

I have the Video Card set to "Quality", on 60hz (sometimes I set it to 75hz), at 1024x768.
The game is set to 1024x768, and if I set the Details Level to HIGH it looks great, but the game stutters and is choppy, it's not slow, but it just doesn't feel SMOOTH...

What is going on? as far as I know, with the system specs I have it should run great at 1024x768 on high details.

To be honest i dont think the specs are that good to run it at that high a detail.

I had an Fx5200 with 512mb and a 2ghz processor, and i could only run that at 800x600 with detail on medium. Replaced the FX with a 6600gt and i run at the highest. Might have to consider a lower quality...

:nape: r u serious? a 256MB video card can't run PES5 on high details level?..... the game's gotta be awfully programmed then.....
How do you recommend me to set everything, in order to get the best graphics and the best gameplay I can out of it? I mean... the game and the card settings. Thanks

Did you have v-sync turned on?

Hmmm, I don't remember. I think I have it set as default, I mean I didn't touch that.

and also when you have 512MB memory on your graphiccscard, its the chip that matters, NOT the amount of RAM on it. :ewan:

i have the same card my friend and you wont be able to play on high if you want it to run smoothly.play on meduim and if you want the game to be a bit faster play on meduim 800x600...thats my advice :jap:

The problem may be a slow system RAM memory... Probably not DDR... At least u should consider increase it to 1 GB.

Your graphic card should be enough though.

amen to the chipset at videocards, thats the thing that counts when considering a new graphics cards

mine`s a 9600xt 256ram on 8x

Try hitting downloads.guru3d.com and downloading the latest drivers... it helps A LOT.

I don't know which Forceware is fit for u, but this one sounds right:

But ultimately, Pentium III 1 GHz is hardly enough to do anything these days...
Must upgrade buddy, although I wudn't do it before next spring when the next genre chipsets start hitting the market... at least let's hope they do.

dude, 5500 gpu just aint good enough, the fact that it has 256mb has f all to do with it. Get a 5900, then it will run beautifully. or do what i did and buy a x800 XT. Its never looked so clear!

I have a GeForce 6800 GT PCI-E 256 MB GDDR3 and PES 5 (demo ; but also the game will probably) works really smooth and really good on high details level (1280*1024 - high) ... my resolution is 1600*1200 - 70 hz on desktop ... I can tell a 256 MB card works good with PES 5 ... guarantied ..

Not every 256MB card runs at same performance.. You (Brother Hymn) have a 6800 GT (thats one of the best GPUs) but in no comparison with a FX5500

The question is whether PES5 is graphics-bound or CPU-bound (whether you can find perfromance growth in a change in the CPU or in the graphics card, given the code of the game and where it locates its resource demands).

If PES5 is graphics-bound, then upgrading your graphics card makes sense; if its CPU-bound, then having a Pentium III processor is what's killing you.

My guess is the latter, although you aren't running high-end components in either area. I'm running a AMD Athlon 64 FX-57 with an nForce4 SLI Chipset Motherboard and dual 256MB PCI-Express x16 GeForce 7800 GTX KO - SLI Enabled graphics card(s), along with serial ATA RAID 0 320GB Serial ATA 7,200 RPM hard drives w/16MB Cache total...the INTEGRATION of these components is what, along with their individual capabilities, creates seamless gameplay and game performance...

Hell if your MONITOR refreshes slowly, or otherwise lacks in response time, THAT can throw a systems of high-end components off b/c the monitor can't keep up...

EDIT: Another area to consider is bus speed; the speed of the frameworks by which teh CPU communicates WITH the grapchics card, and vice-versa. IF your bus speeds are inordinately slow, you'll get a slowly-performing game no matter what the components are, b/c they cannot communicate fast enough...

As you guys clearly have no idea what your talking about let me tell you what his problem is - its his prehistoric 1ghz processor.

Its 2005 in case you didnt know and trying to run modern games on a 1ghz processor is quite frankly hilarious. You should also get rid of that below average graphics card and get a 9800pro for 80 quid.

Id love to see FEAR on your system......

The 256mb of RAM on your graphics card is useless, because that card is too slow to utilise it anyway. I made the same mistake - Nvidida simply rip you off. I have a Geforce FX 5700 256mb but the 256mb of RAM makes no difference, because the card itself is too slow for it to ever be used.

Marketing con :s***:
