German TV Directors

So I'm watching the first half of the World Cup final and it's a great game but the direction of German TV really bothered me at times.
Not just in the final but this whole World Cup seems to have been directed by a bunch of morons.

First we have some idiots who seem to find the super slo-mo arousing, especially when it shows a manager screaming in super slo-mo on the touchline. Yeah, looks real charming!

Then there's showing the managers when they really should be showing a replay of an important chance.
Not only do they show the managers at the wrong moment, they also keep the camera focused on them for about 15 seconds!

Then there's showing the crowd at the wrong moments. Show the crowd when the ball is out of play but not when a team is attacking the goal.

Then there's the showing of self-obsessed FIFA/Goverment pricks who contribute absolutely nothing to football. Not in a million years do they deserve camera time.
Another annoyance was in the France vs Portugal game when they showed (ex-France manager) Aimee Jaquet more than they showed Domenech.

Then there's also the use of replays for useless situations. Did anyone notice the super slo-mo replay of a physio squirting water onto Perotta's injured foot. Classic TV directing right there!

I love the super slo-mo replays but use them wiseley. I mean, this World Cup has been brilliont but the TV directing has been absolutely crap. A bunch of blind, demented monkeys could direct a football match better than the bunch of German TV idiots.

Got to agree. You'd expect flawless quality from the Gers, but it's been very poor.

We've probably missed about 50% of the bookings in real time, they show replays while the ref is giving a card, so we don't know until a long while after whether it was a booking or not.

German TV does not have any power. It's a world director appointed by Fifa and his staff who delivers the images. It's a Fifa thing.

They are obsessed with that camera view of the ball before a goal-kick has been taken.

lmao, i've moaned at that every game.

"Oh look goal-kick.....*waits for camera to zoom in* ....****WANK****BASTAD IT ALWAYS HAPPENS!!"

i was pissed at the fact that they were slow as hell with replays in some games. like ball is out of play for 10 secs, something big happened before that, no replay. then they squeeze it in in the middle of a play.

Yes they had but not of the crucial scenes (like the Zidane one). They only are allowed to show replays of shots, goals for example.

And as already said, don't blame German TV, they have to take, like everyone else, the pictures of the FIFA production ...

Did anyone else get the transparent overlay at that one point? Like they showed two camera angles at the same time, but you could see through them and look at both at the same time. That was WEIRD.

I also really wonder why soccer directors insist on the half field camera for penalties. Can anyone honestly tell me that the half field, terrible angle is better for penalties than the straight on shot from the top of the goal on the other side of the field?

When u come to think of it, the direction was not flawless after all.

-Many clever tricks haven't been replayed.
-Some average tricks have been replayed from more than one angle.
-The SUPER slow-motion strips away the momentum of the players, and gives a false fake impression on fouls.

But overall, I thought the direction wasn't as poor as many described here. I liked seeing the coaches' reactions to chaces/goals etc.

Much better than WC 2002, whose direction was plain dull.

WC'98 was the best I recall. They never missed a trick.

Super slo-mo had some nice moments (like 2 or 3 this whole world cup..) besides that they were just using in repeatedly every game as if they had this amount they had to use each game... the direction was mediocre imo... i've seen too much of beckenbauer and all those "who gives a sh*t" celebrities.

i didnt like the fact that they never showed the whole lineup singing the national anthem/ they cut to the coaches fans in between. They also didnt show opposing team members greeting each other which has been a mainstay in previous tournaments
