Get back retired players in manager mode?

I've been a manager for a long time and all the great players are retired or retiring. Gone is Zidane, Henry, etc. Can you get them back?

I want these guys in my team!

Nope. Once they retire, they are gone.

Can you eventually run out of players? OR does the game keep generating new ones?

the game generates new ones that you can get through scouting. Alot of the players are just copies of the retired players with just different names and faces but their attributes, height ,date of birth, nationality and that all stay the same.

There are always exactly the same number of players available as there were at the start of your career (how many will depend on whether you've installed any add-ons like the CEP and/or whether you've created any players). They get reincarnated with different names and different years of birth (and thus ages) and with their attributes adjusted (but the attributes stay the same relative to each other, so a player with a far better shot accuracy than shot power will always have a far better shot accuracy)
