GK going forward bug?

Has anyone noticed late in the game if their goalkeeper has gone forward on set pieces when you were winning? I just played Verona in a league match, and in the 90th minute Buffon went to join the attack on a corner. Thing is, I was winning 2-1, and thought to myself, "gee, why does my gk join the attack when I'm winning but the other doesn't join the attack when they are down 1?" Oddly enough, Verona ended up clearing the ball, and one of there players hoofed a 45 yard strike that nailed the crossbar, bailed out by Zebina, who then cleared the ball to Camoranesi who passed to Trezeguet to score and put the dagger in. I know, I scored off that but it's still odd.

Not the first time it's happened to me either, I can recall two other incidents, thankfully they didn't score. It's just really weird, hopefully it's a bug. Anyone else had this problem?

my goalie tends to make stupid runs to loose balls what are loose neer the halfway line region, miss the ball and concede.
then the commentator states it is a mistake from the striker for loosing the ball in the first place lol

That's not what I was talking about though, I was talking about my goalie going up late in the game on my set pieces when I was winning and not in need of an extra person to get the goal.

No, this really does seem to be an AI setting that does the exact opposite of what it's supposed to do. (Booleans, eigh)

So you've experienced it too Rudd, or heard about it? Because it just happened to me again, only this time Buffon didn't get back in time and there was no crossbar to save me and the other team scored. Extrememly pissed.

Just checked the SI forums, and the bug is known to them and they are looking into it (as of prior to the first patch).

One thing that could be causing it (has been suggested) is setting the team mentality to all out attack, this is said to sometimes? (dunno how that would be the case, but it has been suggested) override the GK's set pieces settings.

A possible solution could be to set your GK's set pieces to stay back in attacking situations.

No, that was a first hunch that came to me when reading your problem.

That would only solve half the problem, however, as the opposing team's goalie still won't go go forward when his team needs him to. Good points there Ruud, I'll try them to see if they remedy the problem for me in the meantime.

It happened to me on FM2006, I checked the tactics immediately and for some reason the goalie was set to something like go forward and stuff, so I had him in stay back, everything, and that solved it. This would normally just happen when you're using offensive tactics, though. It is odd, though, that the AI doesn't do the same.

ruud is right, it happens when you have the team mentality on all out attack. anyhoo gk miss open headers all the time.

Happened again only this time I was up 3-0 and Buffon went to join the attack, I went to check my tactics and it had "stand on far post" in attacking corners for him when I clearly remember setting it to stay back for Buffon before the game. Sheesh, SI better sort this **** out.
