So, does anyone care to talk about the Gold Cup, since that's what the topic started off as

Only 2 clubs have won impressively, USA and Mexico. I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I really do think that the US will meet Mexico in LA for the finals.
They have won there games even though they haven't looked as good as most fans would hope they would.
Heck, if they've been winning this way, can you imagine how they would look when they start getting it together? The World Cup is 2 years away, plenty of time to improve.
And for those who keep on mentioning that "the US placed last in 98," get over it.
Your talking about something that happened 2 years ago. Last year the US placed third in the Confederation Cup in Mexico behind Brazil and the champions Mexico. So why don't you guys use that example instead?

One last thing, USA for Gold Cup champions 2000!!!

Canada would have made some noise had they placed Alex Bunbary on the squad and not suspended Tomas Radzinski and Brad Parker. I don`t think they are out yet. ( depending on what happened between Costa Rica and South Korea.) Keep in mind Canada is without Mark Bircham as well. Mexico will win this tourny no matter how bad the U.S want it. Sorry thats the truth.

Everyone knows that the Mexican team is better than the USA team... but there really is no reason to be so rude about it! Trying to drive away the few fans of the beautiful game in the US will do nothing for the game gaining acceptance here.

I also agree that Mexico will win the Gold Cup. The US could very well lose to Columbia (in which there would be no shame, since Columbia is a strong team), but if the US plays Mexico in LA then it will be a road game for the US

(I loved how the US moved the US-Mexico '98 World Cup Qualifier in 1997 to Foxboro, Massachussettes... at least the U.S. was able to have a home game against Mexico for once

- and as I recall, both qualifiers played against each other that year ended in a draw).

Yes! As a matter of fact, the last two or three meetings them both resulted in Mexico beating the US 1-0 IN INJURY TIME... and those were competitions, NOT friendlies. The Mexican press went so far as to call both those games "Superclassicos" (i.e. Super Classics).

What I said about paying for education is this...

If Mr. TeKmoS goes to a public school, then my tax dollars are helping pay for his education.

There's no debate here. It's the way it works! Public schools are paid for mainly with public money... in other words, tax dollars. This has nothing to do with nationality or race.
The fact is I work and I pay my taxes every year. I do not cheat on them nor do I ever plan to.

From Tekmos' own statements, he said he is in "AP classes."
You don't have AP classes in college. He is in high school.

But it wasn't the main point anyway... the main point was RESPECT... and so far he has shown it to no one.
