Got the full game, it's fun but...

It needs some serious patchwork.

For starters, and most annoying, it has a hugely irritating flicker look on the screen, which is very visable, and when you are in the startup movie, EA Sports logo and UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE intro the black bar flickers on the screen the whole time.

Secondly the game won't recognise my Logic 3 control pad, it just says 'Keyboard' at the top of the controls screen and you can't change it, i thought they fixed this stupid bug way back in Fifa 2004?? EA never learn!

Sometimes you can see seams on the pitch, its comprised of two interlocking V shapes and you can see right down the seams in the centre, thats also off putting.

Also is the retardedness of corner kicks, instead of A, S, W or D as the pass/shoot/curl etc buttons it has 1,2,3,4 and has no indication of which button 1,2,3 and 4 relate to on the keyboard.

The physics and gameplay are great though, even though Keyboard use is cumbersome, get the pad and graphics glitches fixed EA and this could be a Champion itself! (H)

I've fixed the flashing black bar problem, you just need to turn off Anti-Aliasing...

But i still can't pickup my Logic 3 controller!!

Come on guys can't we have some more info...? I need some more feedback before I go and buy it meself! :) I didn't buy FIFA 2005, or 2004, because I lost faith with it and preferred the PES games easily, but I love the whole CL atmosphere in these games and am very tempted, but is it worth it? I guess those problems you're having up there wouldn't be on the xbox version, which is what I would get (for xbox live).

So, anybody who has played the full game please post a semi-extensive review!

I really like the game. The gameplay feels different somehow.
The crosses are much better in my opinion, now you can acctualy cross the ball from one side to the other and take advantage of it.

The only thing that sucks is that the roster is really f***** up, I mean for example, Morientes is still in Real Madrid and Gravesen in Everton. ¨¨

gutted that my ps2 pad converter isnt compatible with it, as soon as it loads it goes into ultra vibration mode, and on menus it seems like the down key is pressed constantly :(

will have to use keys i imagine ... or wait for the patch damn ea!

Ofcourse the rosters aren't updated. It's CL 2004-2005 so the season starts in August/September so the players weren't transfered yet;) .

Yea maybe you're right.

One more thing. In season mode, you sometime get a message from the owner that sais:
"Sell defender. sell midfielder, sell attacker.
Buy defender, buy midfielder, buy attacker".

That's really annoying, I don't wanna sell.
And when you buy the new players, their skill must be a total of 240, that's 80 for each player. And thats not easy to find if you don't sell very good players aswell.

what about the goalkeepers and A.I. do the computer shoot from long distance? do use the wings?

how about tatics? can you now move players into postions you actually want or are we stuck with the pre set formations?

I think you can move players into positions you want, but i still want a patch to use my Logic 3 controller, as the game is pretty much impossible to use skill at without the control pad.

I need the right analogue stick! :(

Well I think they've improved the goalkeeper AI.
And the CPU do take shots from longrange, but not all the time of course. But I've conceded some beautiful goals. They also use the wings to attack, and sometimes just stick in to the attacker. I really enjoy the game.

That "sell and buy player" thing I was talking about before really pays off after a while, I've managed to sign some fine players.
I play with Arsenal and I've signed Adriano, Maldini, Kim Källström, Sissoko and Rothen.

And in the begining of the season you get to play some league games aswell. I don't know if it continues beacuse I have only played a couple of games. Some friendlies, a preseason tournament and the first leg of the CL qualifying.

If you like Fifa 2005 you will most definitley enjoy this one.

Yep it's fantastic. I'll be switching from PES to this for sure. The whole CL atmosphere is amazing and the CPU Ai is pretty realistic. They don't just try to run up the wings like in konami's series. The only gripe i have with this game is that there is no direct ip online mode. Unless i haven't found it yet.
Anyone know about this?

And if you had bothered to read further than just deciding to start a flame war, you would have read that it was my fault that the flicker was there because i had Anti Aliasing enabled. :kader:

Wow, well, it's amazing to see how far EA have improved this engine!

IMHO all recent FIFAs have totally sucked (although I didn't play FIFA 2005, because of that reason), and yet I'm amazed by this. It plays beautifully and does not feel scripted at all, gameplay is a big thumbs up and the atmosphere is unrivalled! I'll hardly be switching from PES4 to this but it's a refreshing alternative. Well done EA!

I have the Xbox version btw.
