graphic setting and lag?

does my graphic in-game setting (1024 x 768 high) affect my performance online, does it cause lag to me or my opponent?

would it be better to play on 640*480 LOW?

I remebered that on PES4 had no difference, but lately some noob told that graphic setting has some influence on lag?
