Ppl like Aveirenses and Sodragoes are long gone. It´s because of remarks like YOURS that we still have this bad rep. Generalizations...
Btw no Latvian chick pic for you now :p

P.S.: In case Virgo misunderstood me. I'm not the one with the prejudices against the portuguese members here, I was just pointing out how people get them when they read stuff like that. Of course, the mystery about Enigma's nationality has been solved now (:p) but I'm sure if some random member (who happened to have a greek flag) talked crap about the Portuguese team, you'd react the same. ;)

I certainly hope that the game against Turkey goes well on Wednesday and there is no repeat of this shameful display that was put on by both Albanians and Greeks.

No one deserves to die for something stupid like that but when someone sees his flag gets burned and bad chants against his own culture then he would go nuts and do some damage obveousely. Just like those Leeds hooligans who came to Turkey to cause trouble and they got for what ever they have asked for.

So who ever started it I blame them not the people who gets involved in the action.

I wouldn't. I'd never say that it's bcs of him and his comments that some people hate Greece. Why? Because it's a generalization; it reflects his views and nobody elses.
If someone takes any comment made by a portuguese and extrapolates to 10 million people, assuming that just because they happen to live in the same country they're all alike, then that someone needs to grow up. And get some education. [And I know it's not your case, amigo. ;)]

But again, this is my opinion. It doesn't reflect the views of the other 10 million portuguese over here.

I was merely talking about the fact that the portuguese here have gained a bad rep because of a few assholes. And that certain comments (that get misunderstood like in this case) only help cement those generalizations. I was NOT, I repeat NOT, siding with those who generalise in any way.

If any moron booes the turkish anthem before the game against Tuirkey, should be immediately thrown out of the stadium...it's just pathetic and I really really hope things will go in a peaceful way.
But, i would never run with a greek flag on my shoulders in the centre of Tirana or Ankara, because i know there could be troubles with people who would find it provocative-Albanian fans should have known it. Sad to say,but fanatism is overwhelmed in some cases, especially between neighbouring countries. I watched the game along with some albanians who live in Thessaloniki and we were having fun,no insults,no provocative comments. I would do the same with Turkish friends,I would do the same with anyone-even if there was a bit of innocent sarcasm. However, not everyone thinks this way.
RIP for the Albanian boy-I was shocked to hear about it.

On another note Albanian nationals in Athens proceeded on the night of their football team's success to go to Omonia square, to chant nationalistic, anti-Greek slurs in the middle of the capital city.

That is very stupid, chanting f*ck Greece, in the main square of its capital city is something only a fool would attempt. Greek citizens and police alike, being witness to this, dispersed the crowd, peacefully.

The Albanian Prime-minister himself was the first guilty and the one to blame with his stupid attitude before the game, provoking fanatism to people. He gave the game a nationalistic aspect, making people believe it was a matter of life or death-nothing to do with sports anyway.

I'm almost positive there will be no violence in the Turkey-Greece match. After seeing the streets of Izmir when Greece won euro, all the greeks and turks celebrating together, it would be stupid to see violence.

It is true that Greek-Turkish relations have improved a LOT lately. But still, seeing those fanatics in Istanbul yesterday burning a dummy of our Patriarch really freaked me out. It is fanatics like that (Greek or otherwise) that ruin it for everyone else.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this game and hopefully after that loss to Albania our boys will be all hyped up and ready to get that important 3 points at home.
