Aussie fans rejoice!

Milan: preso Grella

Translates:
Milan: Grella taken
We predicted it some months ago, and now we can confirm it: Milan has purchased the young australian midfielder of Empoli, Vincenzo Grella. The player will start in Red and Black from next season.

This better be true, if it is, the drinks are on me!

Great to hear, good news.

Hard to believe that 20 years ago it was a rarity to get one player in the Australian XI in a top flight European league, now its the exact opposite.

"if he wants to be in the first team for australia"???

Like Okon will stand in his way... I spoke to fozzie, who said that grella just has the better package than okon.

He could end up being the biggest australian of all time(thats if kewell doesnt leave that rut)

He certainly won't be in the Milan CL first team :(

How do u know that?! You could be right, as the rumour is he will be sold to milan, and then milan loan him to chievo for a season.
(kind of like miccoli with juve)

But he's been one of the best players in serie A this season, he could easily start over gattuso, and with redondo still not having much of an impact, he could be a star!

Sweeeet! Good to see some young blood at Milan that have a future ahead of them :rockman: But, the question is, does he really have a chance of being on the first team?

Yes, it is an achieve but where will he fit?

He is a great talent, but should go to a lower club.

Milan have:

Pirlo, Rivaldo, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Dalla Bona, Rui Costa, Seedorf and it goes on and on. Where does he go?

Milan will probably loan him to a lower club for a season.

Juve did it with Miccoli and he proved that he is world class.

after all the cannavaro stuff in the off-season, me reading "cannavaro deal confirmed" etc...... i don't trust anything except for the official site anymore (yes, we got nesta which is even better, but still.....).

but, if it did happen... i think he'd be loaned off too. probably continute with empoli. and there's the small problem of pirlo, ambrosini, redondo and gattuso playing the same position  :S:|

Yeah soccerage.com says that chievo are trying to get a peice of the action, so that when milan buys grella, he goes to the flying donkeys.

Like i said, he'll be loaned off to probably a mid-ranged club up north who will fight for uefa cup.

Grella is a hell of alot better than Gattuso. Grella shut down pirlo when empoli played milan, and redondo isn't the same player anymore, i'd even call grella, "mini-redondo" as he's the same type of player. Grella has been superb this season, shutting down the likes of pirlo and nedved.

The best of this move, is that Galliani said two days ago that a star will be out of the club in the summer.

I bet who's going to leave is Milan Maestro Rui Costa. Last month he was linked with a move back to the club of his heart Benfica, with Adidas paying half of the fee and keeping 50% of his sporting rights. And in the last few games, Rui Costa has been booed by the fans with no apparent reason, and his rather unhappy with that since he always gives 1000% of what he can do and what he can't. I heard rumours that he almost cryed in the locker room because of those booings.

Grella would fit great in the Rossoneri squad, with Dalla Bona passing from this season's central midfielder role to attacking midfielder.

The best part of this, is that Rui Costa really prefers Benfica, if he leaves Milan and Italy.

This is just speculation, but they are based on real facts.

Let's see...

Rui has been a fan-favourite on every team he's played for, I can't see why the Milan fans would boo him. Rui has on of if not the best attitude of any pro footballer and doesn't deserve this. Shame on Milan fans that are guilty of this
Anyways, maybe this is good for us, I honestly think Rui is going to come home and lead us to a very good showing in the CL (or UEFA)

You cant see why milan fans would boo him? Although hes had a great season, you must be forgetting the dreadful pre-world cup season he had.

Which cost Milan a bundle!

Back to Grella, the boy is class, hes easily better than gattuso, and will be redondos heir.

Almost a year after the World Cup, is when the fans remember last season?! If they needed to boom him so much, they should have done it in pre-season, not now! Now that he's in a terrific form, you boo him! Well, if this continues like this, he'll want to return to Benfica sooner rather than later.

Cheers
