Germany's line-up:

Lehmann - Lahm, Metzelder, Mertesacker, Jansen - Fritz, Frings, Ballack, Podolski - Gomez, Klose

Thank f*ck they finally benched Schweinsteiger. Podolski in midfield is certainly not a solution against offensively potent teams though.

Podolski on the flank has been interesting so far. Obviously Germany are holding both Ballack and Frings back in the midfield, which allows Poldi to not worry as much about defense. He's been the most exciting man on the pitch in the first half, and he has come back on defense a few times to win the ball. Very impressive first half by Lukas.

Come on Germany! They play a great football.

BTW: What do you think about the norwegian ref 'till now?

what a gesture by Podolski who didnt even celebrate the goal, maybe to honor his motherland...very unique act there

What a finish from the Podman.

Somewhat unlucky for Poland, but there's been some very encouraging signs from them in this second half.

Great goal and passing between players. It is a real shame That Podolski hasn't gotten enough time in Bayern... But this proves what kind a player he is.

Podolski's Match.

I respect him for not celebrating; the poor guy was even brought to tears. His Polish is still funny (H)

If it's anyone's fault why we lost this match, it's the wankers in the PZPN who didn't call him up in his youth. This match has been a lesson to them, but a lesson too late.

And Lewandowski said it perfectly: we need more belief in ourselves and importantly, more heart, so that we can play our own football. While we had shining moments in this match, for some reason, we didn't take them... Let's hope for the 6 pts against Austria and Croatia.

Roger made a fantastic impact for his role.

Now it's bull****. Even Deyna wouldn't help us today. Podolski wouldn't change the match either.

No, it doesn't. He's a counter-attacking player only. He needs space, otherwise he's useless and that's the reason he doesn't and never will cut it at Bayern. I hope some English second tier teams start a bidding war for him after the Euros.

whats with all theze countries adopting players from other countries to play in their teams. i guess it must be because their leagues and youth system doesent promote young players. whats next, federations fighting for eachother's players?

On topic. good game form germany, like i said Poland always dissapoint in the finals.

That's a bit of a weird statement... it's not as if the Poles come into tournaments being talked up and being a favourite. I thought they gave a good account of themselves out there tonight.

Anyway, looking at the Germany game before you would think anything better than a defeat would be a bonus. From today's games I'd say they are very capable of giving Croatia a tough time. That'll be a good game.

Well that's only because Croatia were so lacklustre against Austria. Maybe if they lose to Germany that'll rattle them for the final group game. But who knows, i'm hoping that we can come out on top. Our next match is must win. We'll probably do it, given that we beat Austria in the WC2006 qualfiers in both matches.

Nothing suprised me in this match really...btw, it was proved in the analysis that 1st goal was scored from offside position.
