Half Crowds!!

I've been playing Fifa 08 on the PC for nearly a month and into my 3rd season and i still have not seen one match with full crowd.. The fifa 08 demo had full crowds but on the game itself it only has half crowds. Even on friendlies there are only half crowds.. Feels really awful. Even for derby games there are only half crowds and it really sucks and brings the excitement down. Does someone knows whether there is a full crowds patch or is there something i need to tune? Someone please help

Yes, but at least you have half crowds, sometimes i have not only one spectator. That depends so much on what rival are you playing. If its a shiitty team then expect no crowd at all. If your rival is from regular to big then your stadium will be full crowded. Of course, if the team you are using has so little crowd, then expect no much crowd in any match against any rival.

i thought it came down to your graphics? if it's set to best quality then you will have full crowd, there is a patch for this with low quality graphics anyway.

Yeah it is your graphics settings... If your computer cant handle the higher settings then you may need the patch...

it's because you used the level of detail either set to medium or low (which both CROWD_RENDER = 1 & CROWD_ANIMATION = 0) you might want to try the high setting then :amika:

Here's a patch from fifax.net wich makes the stadiums full. It was originally created for 07 but it also work for 08. Just install it into your fifa 08 main folder.

Desciption from fifax.net:

This minipatch consists of two files:

Baked Lighting Patch - this patch disables baked lighting in game on low graphic configuration.

Full Crowd Patch - this patch allows you to play will full crowd on stadiums with LOW & MEDIUM graphic level.

Of course the other possibility, since you are in manager mode, is that if your team isnt doing so well it will lead to smaller crowds.

Whilst that would be a really nice feature, it just doesn't work like that. Crowd numbers in game are based purely and simply on the graphic detail level selected.

Really? Perhaps I have been truly duped then. I do have the highest level of detail on all the time, and I clearly noted less spectators (as in large empty areas) compared to when the team was doing well in the standings. But then,
perhaps I was imagining it.

Sorry, that was a lousy choice of words. If you are playing on Medium detail you will never see a full stadium irrespective of fan support. I've never had the luxury of playing on High detail, so I'm sure you are correct that the crowd size changes on that level.

Ok, so I wasn't imagining things then.

Yes, when I finished 20th in div2 in my first season, my home crowds were distinctly low (which was also reflected in my tickets sales). Lowering ticket prices actually netted me more income. But I think it has more to do with fan support than your position. I didnt do that well in div 1 in my third season, but I had > 90% fan support so the stadium was often full. Contrast that with my first season when fan support was around 60% at best (and my job security hovered around 40-50%.

This also seems to jibe with some of the commentary at the beginning of matches - they only make comments about the crowd when the stadium is almost full.

Medium detail?? Steve, perhaps a faster computer/better graphics card is in order. IAt least the graphics card shouldnt set you back too much! :amika:

Sadly not on the agenda at the moment. The main problem is that my old 19" CRT died and therefore I'm trying to drive the game at the native resolution of the new LCD (1280 by 1024) and neither the video card (7600 GS) nor the CPU (Athlon 64 3500+) are quite up to the task. I can justify replacing the monitor, since the children use this machine for homework, but not the video card which only really matters for Oblivion and FIFA.

Sorry to hear that. I can see where you might want to run at lower res for better gameplay. Coincidentally, I am also playing FIFA and Oblivion only.

I am running on an Athlon 64 X2 (dual core) 5000+
with dual (SLI) nvidea GeForce 7600T cards so basically I can max out the graphics potential on either game.
