Handball !!!

Ive seen a lot of people complaining that there is not going to be handball wirtten into Fifa 2003. Ive never played a game where that is used so I was wondering how it worked. Is it just a 1/100 type thing where the game decides, lets have a handball about now?

Cheers

Handball is the essential thing in the game. Will there be handball if the player is being pushed to the ground, but the referee dont blow for a foul and the player(like Totti) hold the ball as if the referee have blow for a foul??

Not a too bad idea.
But....um... I could live without that as long as the game plays right.

And um, since when was handball the essential thing in the game?? Is it like we need a handball button to hold the ball or stick out our hands??

good luck on your quest for handballs... -.-

The ball's gonna be detached from the foot right? Well that means that u can kick the ball anywhere... any height... So: That means that u could be taking a long-range shot and it is blocked on its way by a player's.. HAND.

So I guess with the new gameplay.. the handball isn't a bad idea coz its probability of occurance is equal to its probability in real-life. U know what I mean? This could be solid proof that the game isn't scripted and that the ball could touch any part of the players' bodies if it happened to come in its way.

But of course it was never a priority for me. But it would feel gr8 if it happened all the sudden and the referee awards u a handball coz the ball actually bumped one of the players' hand.

Yeah but that would be ball to hand. The only way you could have handball in a game would be to have it scripted. You could have a button to control it with your hand but who the hell would do it, its pointless. I just dont understand how handballs can work in a game.

i dont think how a handball is a big deal, since it would be more random than anything, and it could get really frustrating because of it, the AI could get cheap and when they lose just call a handball inside the box get a penalty and all that..

Theres no point having handballs. Like Andreizbatman said, the game would have to be scripted and obviously we don't want that.
I don't think the lack of handballs would be THAT much of a downfall :jambo:  :D

Well we don't see many hand balls in a real game anyway, like I havn't seen one for a while, but again it happens and it is there, if EA can put that feature in the game it would put some realism. I don't know how it would work a game but it will be more realistic. I remember in a game this guy had to stop the long pass with his hands so he can stop the break away and he got a red card which was stupid but it is in the real game so there.

If thats wut the kind of realism you want from a game..
Then how about,

-players tripping over their own foot?
-player bump in to the same team and fall down.
-Goalies hitting their heads agains the post during a save.
-Fans throwing stuff on the field and it gets too crazy that the ref calls the game off.
-players fighting with the ref or the opposite team and get red carded
-high kicks, yet another foul
-shirts tear after being pulled
-players bleed after a herendous foul
-unexpected bounces from the ball, usually due to wicked spin on the ball
-add wind effect in the game, so that sometimes a storm would have an effect on the ball physics

etc....etc...

Yeah they are all realistic
but some help the game improve when added while others....
you just don't really need 'em.

Like how many out there would want to stop a ball with their hands to stop a fast break in a game, for example,....

I really dunno

Sounds extremely excellent!
Mentioned options could be switch on/off, like star option in WC2002.
There are many hardcore players, which can use it.

Hugh done it?

Canadian 10 says:
"Well we don't see many hand balls in a real game anyway...."
Neither does Hugh Dallas. He must be a consultant for EA Sports!
Sorry...just another bitter American.

i am saying this often atm, with these notable features not in the game, this is were patch makers could make names for themselves :)

by making addons etc like this.

think about it guys :)

And you could program all this yes? Think how long that would take to do. Perople are still really pleased with games that take weather effects into a game let alone anything like this.

You insane, first of all players tripping over their own foot never happened before :kader: unless if you watch some amature leagues. Actually non of the above part of the game but my point was having a free kick or a penalty from a hand ball would add realism. shishhhhhhhh

I've said this about handballs in WE/PE games, I'll say the same about handballs in FIFA.

Of all the things that can be/should be added to the game, handball is a very low priority. You don't need handballs to enjoy the game. There are tons of other things that FIFA makers should worry about, handball should be at the bottom of the barrel.

Handballs are in TIF/WTS 2002 (and I imagine 2003 as well)

What does it add?

Sometimes it is an accidental hand ball from a players position, but usually the handballs occur when you try a blocking tackle and place it too far out or execute too late and if you are just unlucky enough to hit it with your hand and not your body HANDBALL!!

It adds quite a bit of realism and makes you think twice about the timing of your blocks when inside the box.
Too soon "PENALTY!"
Too Late "HANDBALL, PENALTY"
Way too late = GOOOL!

Is it really difficult to add? In TIF/WTS it is not scripted it seems to be a simple colision detection (Same as catching a ball to the groin or face can put a player on the ground for a wee bit).

But for EA... Seeing this is the 1st year the ball will actually exist on the pitch and in the physical world (wink wink) they may need a bit of time before they get to this AMAZING level of complexity :-)
