Have you ever watched a footy game? Refs in real life ARE incredibly inconsistant! I dunno about a red for taking a bal from a players foot, but I think there should be bad calls and such just like in real footy. (H)

Some good suggestions flying round.

I don't think ive got any extra suggestions to make. But the 2 big things they should work on are...

1) 360 degree movement

2) Online play

Other things that would be nice, but not crucial would be...

3) Refs and linesman

4) Better crowds

5) To be able to take complete control of the goalie!?!?!

6) Proper team names and player names (if they can afford it)

7) Replays at any time in the game

The refs aren't brilliant but I still hardly ever get booked. You just have to make sure you tackle at the right time. Also they need to make sure they don't use the defending AI from PES2. It is shocking!

If they can make a few of these changes then WE7 will be awesome.

Well I have played semi-pro so I must of watched a match somewhere along the lines lol

I do realise that Refs can be terribly inconsistant and do make bad calls. I do admire some of them in PES2, Its just they seem to be either increadibly harsh or they don't know how to ref.
There are also so terrible fouls made on the game that don't get penalised, once again ref inconsistancy prgrammed into the game but they seem to happen more to me:confused:

I know what they do need to fix...

Its where your through on goal and the computer player pushes you over from behind! It happens so often (especially on extreme). Fair enough, most of the time they give a foal. But it should be an instant red card!

1. true 360 degree movement and passing (just to underline it again. can't be said often enough)

2. give me more control of the through pass. i want the ball to go where i want it to go (and how strong it should go there), not where the CPU wants it to go. no, right stick won't do, because the sensitivity sucks....

3. "Make player run" button. a neat feature in FIFA. press L1 and a forward will make a run into space and you can pass him the ball.

4. ability of the wingers and forwards to lay off the ball into space, and outrun the defender without the ball.

5. Please get finally rid of the "I stand here unmovably and wait until the ball reaches me" thing.

6. more realistic freekick settings. why is there always only one dude at freekick?. i want to fake, stepover, lob the ball with a coplayer.

7. better goalie control. want to drop the ball. move out of the box.

8. no fouls (let alone stupid cards) when i tackle and (audibly/visibly) HIT the fvcking ball.

9. referees on the pitch. get rid of their CPU bias. how often has a CPU player tackled me both legs ahead without the ref even bothering.

10. please let me bypass the stupid booking animations. i can't see it anymore.

11. dribbling ability/speed needs to be reduced across the board. this is not kung-fu with constant 90 degree flips. hai-ha-haiaaa..

12. ability to play 20 or 30 minutes ML matches.

13. accurate rosters. accurate team performances. why the fvck is fiorentina among the top teams? why hamburg? and they even play like gods.

14. fluctuating team strengths. teams that are in the back rankings should play like teams in the back (generally easier to beat than teams further upfront). right now it doesn't matter if Barca is 2nd or 15th in the league. they always play fantastic (at least against myself).

15. more venues: Bernabeu, but also a crappy sub 30K stadium (that is NOT an english one)

16. games without sell-out crowds.

17. the ability to start a fight or provoke. sometimes i just feel like smacking one of those perfect playing a**holes like Ambel, Barbarez or Vassel and give them a "Roy Keane" (sorry)

18. more signature moves. i know this smells like FIFA, but it would be nice to actually believe that this IS Zidane, or Ronaldo or Rivaldo and not just a bunch of generic code with outstanding stats.

19. commentary. editor. uniforms... too much to mention...

PES2 is a great game. The best soccer-game ever (and I think I played 85% of them since Subiteo (for the infants: a board game, where you used your fingers to push tiny little players to the ball. A bit like chess). Still I would like to see:

1. the ability to play cups/leagues with as much player-controled teams as you want. AND WITH THAT: the ability to decide before each cup/league match if a human player is with or against you, or if the CPU playes the human-team. I hope this english makes any sense, because this is really a big thing to me. I just CAN'T STAND the fact that, in this day in age, we are simply not allowed to play our favorite game as we like it. In my case I want to play a league and control ALL the teams, and then I want to decide per match which team I actually play, so the other is controlled by the CPU for that match. From ISS PRO to PES2 this possibility has slowly diminished from the game, and I just can't understand why.

2. Much more different CPU-playing styles. There are a lot of teams in the world that play long ball and hope for the best. Sometimes these teams aren't quite that easy to defeat. I mean, this feature is not simply: make some teams weaker. I truly mean: make them play different. Let us experience a game where we play a top team against a lower-division one: the top team in constant attack, but with so much difficulty to knock the wall of defenders down.

3. Let future PESses be backwards compatible, like it is in PES2. I mean: you should always be able to import your edited teams and players into a new pes. This is extremely user-friendly, time-saving. And it's something no other soccer-game ever had.

Well, that's about it. I'm sorry guys, I don't really care about online-play. I think it's an overrated feature, it sounds nice, but it's a really tiny band-aid for the big wound that the prehistoric in-game multiplayer options are. The majority of people will play pesx at home, alone or with friends.

By the way: Is anyone getting this thread to the Official Playstation Site?

Maybe so but there are still 250,000 people in North America who are currently playing each other online in X-Box games via X-Box "Live" - I know if WE7 has head to head IP play I'll be all over it (and will probably end up being kicked out of med school if I'm not careful! lol) and I think most people here would be playing online. Madden 2003, SOCOM, ATV OffRoad Fury 2 and a few other PS2 games already have online support so hopefully KCET will follow for WE7 next year.

Of course, on line play would be a great feature, I don't argue that. I just hope that Konami won't focus on that, i.e. make WE7/pes3 an 'on-line' version of WE6/pes2. For me that would be a tiny evolution. There are so many other things to sort out in the core game, especially in the options-department.
If they include on-line play in WE7 AND give us more free options, you won't be hearing any complaints from me.

How's Med-school anyway, Neutral? Are you making any progress? Have you set up a Medics-Winning Eleven competition already?

a have an idea on how the gamemplay could be further improved...wouldnt it be cool for konami to finally take advantage of the ps2's dual shock pressure-sensitive buttons?
this could be implemented in the game in a simple way, i.e. whenever you pressed a button lightly it would perform a feint of the move that it would normally correspond to if it was actually pressed normally. this would make it possible to fake for a backheal when running through the field with zidane to create a bit of space and deliver that killer through ball or shot and generally give greater potential for more creative play...
logically this sort of feature wouldnt be so hard to include as the animations are already there, all they would have to do is tweak them a bit :)
this would of course make defending considerably harder so they could make defending more complex as well and crucially allow for theplayer to commit deliberate shirt pulling fouls to stop potentialy dangerous attacking plays. after all, most of the great midfield players like simeone or emerson commit such fouls in real life.
this brings me to another point, that of individual animations for key players ( i know that this has partly been done in pes2). for example, zidane should run whilst constantly scanning the pitch for open passes and players like pires, vieri and seedorf should move like they move in real life.
personally i would also like to see more authentic styles of play from different teams and this could be achieved using sliders(similar to those seen in LMA manager) for direct/patient passing, short/long balls. also i believe greater attention should be given to team formations as curently the default ones are kind of flat.
i think that some of the suggestions made in this thread are neat, like 360 degrees of play and referees present in the pitch and i would like to add to that the need for more "curving" on short as well as long balls as this technique is essential in real football. ideally great passers could make great use of this technique for expertly angled balls and through passes.
finally one more suggestion in regard to someone mentioning the need for greater freedom in the execution of through-balls: i think that through balls should work in a similar way to long balls, i.e. with a power bar and konami should also take notice of the ace feature of calling for a run used in fifa ( sometimes its better to take notice of the competition even if you are the best ;) )

P.S. i feel we - frustrated PES gamers - should give a lot of credit to konami as the series is by far the best representation of the beautiful game there is. i believe PES3/WE7 will be a great evolutionary step for the series in a way the evolution from ISSPE2 to PES2 never was because of many factors:
a) WE5/PES was a rushed attempt to get into the ps2 market as soon as possible (sign of this is the use of renderware to develop the game)
b) WE6 could have been even better or the beggining of a new cycle for the series, but this was not possible because of World Cup in Japan which provided a great opportunity for Konami to get a game out to take advantage of this opportunity.

I was just thinking. I know 360 degree rotation would be wicked but I think it is pretty much impossible to do at the moment. The players would end up spinning round really fast wouldn't they?

Surely if they could have done it, they would have done it ages ago? There must be something stopping them?

What do you guys think?

It probably has alot to do with dribbling, its a verey easy way to make dribbling balanced and not scripted.
I am not that botheredf with it when it comes to controlling players/dribbling, but passing and crossing certainly should be easy to make 360 degree.

Am I the only one unsatisfied with the current crossing system ?(not the crosses nto the box). Isnt the current systemway to easy to handle? I would prefer if the crosses would not be so manual, accuracy of the cross depending more on the skill of the player.

Or rather the higher crossing stats the more manual the crossing will be.

As it is now it really doesnt matter if u cross with the best crosser in the world, Kim Källström or some random guy.
Crossing would simply be more special and crucial if not used so often and therefor so much more enjoyable.

WELL SAID. ITS like listening to myself.
i have this "fetish" too and i do it with all sport games and can be a factor wether i buy a game or not...thankfully in pes2 in cup mode we have the ability to choose as many team as we want(depending of the no of teams participating in the cup we chose) but unforunately we cant do that in league mode..cant understand y.

Looks like there were many people who e-mailed in their opinions to the editor of playstation.com Here is the update on the news:
http://uk.playstation.com/news/newsStory.jhtml?storyId=102993_en_GB_NEWS&linktype=NMN

Here is a sniplet:
Our resident newshound George Walter has now flown off to meet the game's Producer, Shingo 'Sea Bass' Takatsuka, armed with over 150 of your emails - some of which ran to more than three pages of A4! So, thank you, for a quite incredible response.

Online play was without doubt the most requested feature, although almost as many people were determined to bang on about real clubs, player names and official tournaments. As we said, they're working on the licensing issue, and we'll let you know how it pans out. In terms of gameplay, you're mostly in agreement that PES2 is pretty near perfect already, and only requires tweaking rather than reinventing.

Common ideas included quicker recovery times after tackles, players moving towards passes faster and making it easier to score from free kicks (personally, we think the balance is about right.) More contentious is the commentary, which was unanimously slated. Several readers wanted to know why Trev unleashes that post-coital gurgle and, frankly, we're as baffled (and frightened) as you are. Quite a few of you suggested getting in Hansen instead, although hearing him berate your defending for 90 minutes could be equally annoying. As far as the visuals go, easily the biggest gripe was the lack of a referee and linesmen on the pitch in the current code. You also wanted to see players with untucked shirts, a more realistic crowd and, er... streakers.

Another popular idea was the inclusion of a five-a-side Training mode, possibly played indoors or on the beach. In terms of new moves a lot of you think diving and handball should be introduced (typical gamers, always cheating) and once you've inevitably been sent off one lad even reckoned you should be able to attack the crowd, a la Cantona. Don't hold your breath! We'll let you know what Konami's response was once George gets back, and there'll be a full report in the magazine in the near future.

Some great ideas...

Why are leagues not a top priority on everyone's list?

Is everyone happy that FIFA has leagues and WE/PES doesn't? I don't get it.

When This is Football, FIFA and others can put all the major leagues in the game and Konami can't something is wrong. yes there are probably some more pressing issues but I do get board playing the ML. There's no connection to it. Atleast with league play I could play a season in Italy and then return to EPL if I get bored.

Maybe this is why leagues aren't a top priority for Konami because it's not a top proirity of the fans!

Well, theyre right in a way. They don't want to completely overhaul it. Just a few tweaks here and there. There are only a couple of things that need doing. Not re-writing the whole gameplay code

I'd agree, Konami shouldn't overhaul the game that would be getting rid of probably the best match engine for a football game.
There are things that need to be tweaked like m@t said. Theres no point of destroying an amazing match engine.
I think its things like celebrations that need improving

Ok, almost all the suggested ideas I agree with. Keep it as good as WE6:FE...

1) 360-degree movement

Improved whatever, whatever, you know, all the other suggestions (liscences, rosters, gameplay, )

2) Pitches deteriorate

3) Players get 'muddy', the pitch breaks upo in these areas, causing the ball the move differantly.

I like the little things, so my suggestions

1) Mistakes by linesmen (offsides, they don't get them right all the time)

2) The boots. Make them look, feel like boots. In PES2, most of them look like brick slabs on the players' feet! (except the gold umbro boots)

3) Goal net styles, physics. Improve them so they look like that of the particular stadium. I.E At Old Trafford, the goal is very droopy, and has that bar around the bottom, make it look like that, but at all the stadia in the game (it isn't that hard)

4) The look/feel of the ball. atm, the ball 'feels' and looks computerised. Maybe the option to change styles of ball? Give it texture (like FIFA 2003), maybe that will help when passing and shooting to make it feel 'real' KUTGW!!!

New stuff on PES3

New stuff is>

1.referee and linesmen visible
2.MUCH MUCH MUCH better commentary
3.official leagues like premier league
4.being able to edit long or short sleeves
3.all teams to have officail names
4.proper stadiums names
5.real music
6.more leagues
7.better and more realistic crowds
8.players hair moves in gameplay
9.more clubs teams
10.sponsers on shirts
11.being able to create and store your own leagues
like FIFA 2002.
12.being able to do and save teams formations in the actual game e.g before match again like FIFA.
13.being able do transfers.
14.being able to create and save players on a club team.
15.better commentaters like motson,barry davies
16.better in m,atch popups and menus e.g when a sub is anounced the popup apears on the bottom of the screen.
17.when u make a sub u actually see the sub taking place

this might seem like alot but just a few of these would make it a better game.but keep the gamplay the same!!!!!!

even though i have wrote all these things they could do to improve the game i still thing PES is better than fifa because of 2 things the gamplay is amazing and because it feels like football!;)
