02/02/2004. Ivan Helguera has been fined by Real Madrid after questioning the club's recent transfer policy.

The big centre-back had said: "Since Makelele left, we do not have people who can function defensively. Beckham works hard, but is not so defensive. We need someone who can win tackles.

"Hierro left us and they said that he was very slow. We miss him. Karanka went away and I do not know why we let him go. Now we need a centre-half, when only a little while ago we had two of the best."

Oh.. and I 100% agree with Helguerra, but he can't say such things in public, it's normal that he'll be fined. It happened many times with many other teams.

If i remember correctly Roy Keane in an interview with the press said that Ferguson should sign a striker. He said this publicly and yet he didnt get fined. I dont see how this is too different from Helguera, yet Helguera gets fined. All he was basically saying is that Real need a boost in the defence, and all Keane said was that Man U needed a boost in attack, its no different.

Helguera wasnt even bossing the boss, he was voicing his opinion, and rightly so because if the defence isnt boosted, theyll still suffer defensively and him and Pavon will get most of the blame for it.

I guess it goes along with the premise that if theyre not a star they know nothing
