HELP Fifa 2002 won't run anymore - May be a bit long

I posted this a while ago and have tried things since even contacting EA (who are useless). But I downloaded one of Nick's patches and now my game won't run anymore. Not sure if his patch caused it or not because I also installed ALone in the Dark 4 and the Open GL that was in it. I contacted EA and they asked for dxdiag information and told me that my system didn't meet min. requirements. Which it does because the game used to run. What I have done since is the following:

1. Uninstalled Fifa and reinstalled a few times while cleaning the registry also.
2. Reiunstalled original drivers for my monitor and anything to do with video from Compaq's quick restore.
2. Bought a geforce 2 card becasue EA said my problem was my video card and I wanted a new card anyway.
3. Ran 3D setup and reinstalled Fifa again after getting the geforce 2.

When I try and run the game it just crashes back to the desktop and change my screen to 640 x 480 and then I have to power off and restart because it wont let me do anything else. I saw another post saying something about soccer.ini in the root of the Fifa 2002 folder but I checked that too and even copied it from the CD to the folder. I also installed on a different machine and it worked so I know it's not the CD. I am guessing it was a patch or something I downloaded but I am out of ideas on where to look and EA is useless so if anyone here has any ideas it is greatly apprecaited. I don't want to reinstall Windows or wipe my machine and put it back to it's original state (too much information on the hard drive) both of which would probably fix the problem but there has to be another way to fix this. Thanks again.

I just went through the registry using regedit and searched for Fifa 2002 and deleted any keys I found for the game. I haven't done that since I got the new card I dont think so I may try it again but it didn't work the last time.

hmmm - this is weird

Now I belive that I have been clearing my reg - and I have been installing the game, but still with an error in the intro.mad file. But I took it direcktly from the cd after the installation. But still when I start the game, It only goes to the white startup page, and then returns to the desktop :monkey: - just a crazy thought- can there be some leftover from a "no-cd" file somewhere ? I belive that I have cleared everthing both automaticily and manually.
Could anyone please give me some good advice or just any advice ?? (execpt from format c:)

Thanks a million - Per - Denmark

if you guess it could be the intro videos do this:

Create an absolutely blank file (e.g. new txt-file) and rename it to ealogo.mad and a similar one that you rename to intro.mad.

Copy both files into data\video-folder and the introvideos will be skipped (as they are actually 0 byte)

To ezio:

Check your DirectX-version !
I recommend Version 8.0 !

DXDiag should display 4.08.00.0400
Otherwise try DirectX Buster and reinstall DirectX 8.0 !

Some ppl said that FIFA runs after Online-Update.
So, be sure to have Version 416

Mike thanks for the suggestions but it didn't work. I am giving uyp for now but if you have any other ideas I would apprecaite it. I'll just go install it on my sister's PC and play it there LOL. Besides right now I am spending more time playing ISS PE 2 than Fifa. Thanks
