HELP!!! I hate shooting :(

Theres to many opologist who just wont accept the imperfections of the game. Its no use saying practice, practice and youll get it right. No matter how much you practice will it change this - ''I got the ball outside the box with my attacking mid and charged in from the right. Since there was quite a lot of space and the goal was open, I decided to have a go and aimed a strong shot at the upper left corner, which considering the direction I was moving in seemed the best option. Instead of following my orders the guy decided to shoot a considerably weak but beautifully curved shot to the lower right corner. It was no deflection, he had the space and time and he hit the ball perfectly, it was absolutely obvious he deliberatly went for the lower right when I aimed at the upper left. Had I aimed for that lower left I would have felt absolutely delighted, cause it was a great goal after all.'
And the passing, certainly is scrited at times too (why when I aim at players feet does it very often go ahead of him for him to run onto?).

I'll agree that the shooting is a bit random, but if you're also have to take into account the players status. If he's got a red arrow, he'll more than likely shoot better. I used Walcott and he sucks in the game, but when I played him when he was 'red', he scored a hat trick. The shots were precise. I still don't understand how to shoot though since most of the time I just press shoot.

One thing I have noticed though is that aiming isn't always necessary. If you are dribbling up field and a defender is coming to you and your teammate is a few yards behind the defender, lay off the d-pad and just press pass. Strangely the player will not pass straight into the defender, but actually pass around to your teammate behind the defender. Usually the pass will go around, but on occassion it won't.

For me... it's the simple fact that the ball doesn't go in the net. I get a lot of strong shots which cause the keeper to dive but no matter what keeper it is, they still manage to pull off some miraculous save and it's very frustrating as in most games, I get about 10-15 shots with about 5-7 of them on target while the computer gets 1-3 shots with 1-3 on target and we draw most of the time...
I don't know how you guys miss the net so much but you have to always watch as to how your player is running and think of which foot they shoot best with. You don't want to put your righty in a position where they can't shoot with their right. If the ball is bouncing, make sure it's at a good height.

You guys do realize that "right" when going right shoots right at the goalie?

In fact, you have to view the gamepad the other way, with "UP" being left side of the goal, and "DOWN" being right side. This is assuming you are going right on the screen.

I'm not sure if this is the case, but it seems to me that sometimes at least on headers, holding "right" (the direction of the goal) hits it high, and "left" hits it lower.

In fact, the best metaphor is treat every shot like you would aim a Penalty Kick. You just have to rotate the field in your mind to figure how to aim it.

I played four seasons in PES 5 without any probs of shooting... You should keep trying ,, you will get use to it.. shooting in pes5 is much better than pes4 though..

When i learned how to take good shots, i thought so thats how you do it, everyone must know this and i was just a noobie.
But after reading this i was made very happy......
...the trick to a good shot(especially long range) is to shoot as normal, aiming where u want with the right power....then as ur player is striking the ball, hold down on the direction pad..this keeps the shot low.
I am very sure about this as ive scored some crackers with it.

Shooting in this game is all about the "feel". Ofcourse when you play against the Computer, it feels scripted. The game is more about playing with humans. Though even with humans you do have one of those matches when no matter what you do the ball just won't go into the back of the net, and the opponent who hasn't got a single chance throughout the match scores from the most awkward of positions. Those things does happen. But in general, shooting ain't that random as most of you put it. I'm able to score from places that I know the chances of scoring is high. And part of getting the "feel" is to get used to the direction buttons of the control pad and the game on screen.
