oh well i give up ...

it just has something to do with the fact that certain arrangement seems to "take up less space"... just need to prove that mathmatically now :p

It's the same shapes but formed differently to form a rectangle. What exact proof does this douchebag want? Just cut-out the pieces put them over the other pieces and if they say **** tell em' to **** off.(H)

Edit-oh youre proving its NOT the same?

Took a stab at a graphical/wordical remake.

Anyways...

The A piece remains the same and slid(sliden slided?) to the right.
The D piece is rotated COUNTER-clockwise 90 degrees and is moved to the far right.
The B piece is rotated COUNTER-clockwise 90 degrees and moved to the far left.
The C piece remains the same and is slid down.

thanx, but you didn't really prove anything, she wants me to prove that the one that says 65 is not equal to the one that says 64...?...i kinda got lost there

What I had was a geometrical way of proving it IS...

That bitch is crazy if she's saying it ain't equal....

Edit-my guess would be that the shapes are congruent only because of perimeter, rather than area.

i think that in the proof it didnt prove that the area are same, in that diagrams A and B they have proved that the the 2 figures are similar and not that they are congruent.

ok i got it, its simple:
look at the two triangles A and C. in the first figure their hypotenuses only overlap by a few squares. But in figure 2, the ENTIRE hypotenuses of the triangles are used up. As a result, it is very reasonable that figure 1 would take up more space then figure 2 because figure 2 has more overlapping areas.
Same idea with the quadraleterals B and D. the quadralaterals in figure 1 are more "indenpendent" (so to speak) than in figure 2.

Hoped I helped you out bud.

lol, yup, and you know what the stupid answer was. you just have to show the the slope of the diagonal in the first one was 5/13 whilst in the other one it was 3/8. quite stupid, don't even know why im taking this course, o well, thanx everyone who helped or tried to help
