Help ... rebuild /regenerate afs file ...

When I try to install many mods, afs explorer will say that the afs file needs to be rebuilt and regenerated to accomadate the size of the new file. When I do this, I back up my old data_e.afs and save the new file as data_e.afs. When I try to run the game it won't load. The only way I can get the game to work is to rename the backup to data_e.afs and I'm back in business. What am I doing wrong?

I too have tried what ur doing.. but.. unfortunately i accidentally deleted my data_e.afs file. Do you know if I could download the file or possibly get someone to send it to me?
