HELP Windows Media Player

when I download something It won't play
it say this

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. One or more codecs required to play the file could not be found.

but that file I have dowloaded it before and it used to play but know it won't work

any help would be good THANKS

download the divx codec

which version have you got. I had this problem but upgraded to version 10 and that has sorted it

and div x also

Try the XVid codec, just try every codec.

You could also download a video identifying program to see what codec is used.

http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ = XVid codec
http://www.divxmovies.com/codec/ = DivX codec (just to make sure you do have the up to date one)

What format is the video? AVI? MPG?

A codec for compressing/decompressing files which have been compressed with the xVid codec by the author

I don't know I intall WMP 10 and strted working again. BUT now I have the same problem AGAIN
