Help with slowdown

I'm experiencing slowdowns at the halfway line and also around the penalty box. Any ideas as to how I can get rid of this?

I have a 3.0 GHz processor, 1 Gig of RAM and a GeForceFx 5200 video card. I'm running it on a laptop btw.

Two thoughts. Either your graphics card isn't quite up to snuff, or your CPU control utility (SpeedStep for Intel, Cool 'n' Quiet for AMD) is kicking in and slowing the processor to stop it draining too much power and/or getting too hot.
