We were holding a practice indoors on a basketball court and this guy on the team decided to slide tackle....lets just say the outcome wasn't what was desired

i m so happy that everyone seems interests in the Hong Kong streetfootball.

i just played with my friends yesterday. and we are get used of the hard ground. we seldom play in turf field because we have to pay to play :p

the way we play is that if there is another team waiting when 2 teams are playing. the waiting team say "Gun Dui" which means to queue up and tell the teams playing they want to play afterwards. and then if any 1 of the 2 teams playing scores a goal and that is 1:0, the losing team leave and the waiting come into the field and start another match which will end with 1:0 ;)

and do u notice that the boots we wear are not the boots for the turf field. the "boots" we wear is a kind of shoes with flat sole and dont have any studs of coz. but they are not the boots worn in the indoor soccer match. over 80% of us wear the shoes made of cloth and they are not as hard as the boots. the "boots" we wear are called "Bak Farn Yue" in cantonese ;)

the members from Hong Kong are all happy to reply any of the questions about hong kong football. feel free to ask:p

thanks!

Damn I wish they had those in the States. A great way to play the game without getting covered in grass stains or burned by astroturf :p

The closest thing I do to that is playing in a gym at my school that has this ceramic hard stuff on the ground. Its probably pretty much the same as the ground in the vids.

I 'm not quite sure about this
but it seems like the mc fa son pitch
i also dont know the english name but i think that it is the "Mc Fa Son Pitch" when i saw garlei said it is in the middle of Mong Kok.

i havent played in that pitch b4. i always play in the pitch at Tsz Wan Shan, Wong Tai Sin and that is the pitch we called ŽµåjŽe (u can choose the code Traditional chinese Big5 in yr web browser to see the chinese words ;) ) "Chut Ho Jai" (Number 7 in english)

It is "Mc Fa Son". probably chinese for "MacPherson".

This is the kind of poor man's shoe Houston was talking about. We all wear this. they're about $2-$4 a pair. Many prefer this because the material is so thin you can really feel the ball.

Help?

Yeah, in Eastern Europe we have about the same indoor shoes and they cost the same, the only difference is that they actually look like indoor shoes, while those look like normal walking shoes. And the bottom is twice smaller, so that they are lighter and easier to control the ball and run with it. Had a picture of the old ones in the New Boots thread. :crazyboy:

these shoes are about 16 HK Dollars each pair (about 2 USD and 1 pound)

We wear this kind of shoes but with laces. The shoe shown in the picture doesnt have laces so that kind of shoes are easy to loose.

one more thing, the minority of us wear indoor boots. (i mean the boots without studs) but they cost about US$40 i guess.

We called those cheap shoes we wear "Bak Farn Yue" where "Bak" means white. "Bak Farn Yue" is a kind of fish that we eat. they are tuny and white in colour. we just use this nickname to call our shoes. the more formal name i can think of is white cloth shoes. :p

"Bak Farn Yue" are cheap and therefore they are easy to be worn-out. i think we have to buy a pair of new Bak Farn Yue about every 2 months if we always play football.

yes, something like these. but i think the ones we wear are cheaper and lighter by just looking at yr pic ;)

if i have a digital camera, i would take some photos about the kind of shoes, the football pitch we play in, and everything. but unfortunately, i dont have one. maybe i can borrow one from my sister or my friend later.

if my friend sent me the photos took when we had our inter-class competition last year, i will post them here ;)

sometimes, only words is difficult to describe something. graphics are always better than words :p

Well i played in those shoes for 8 month! Lasted long enough. I played them in grass, on clear hard surface and the traditional european field in sand. So yeah they lasted long enough and they were WAY whiter of coarse, had an adventure with me :p .

Help?

Actually they were really good. I didn't play in wet grass, so i couldn't slip, plus the field is not perfectly smooth, like in pro soccer.

we also have the shoes in yr pic in Hong Kong and we called them "Chiu Cup Bak Farn Yue" where "Chiu Cup" means "Super".
that means advanced "Bak Farn Yue" :p they last longer and cost much. i havent tried them but my friends have tried and they said the original cheaper "Bak Farn Yue" is better. maybe we just get used to it.

Help?

Fan Favourite
maybe, but i like them because they are very very low, almost like you foot, so you basically play barefooted, only it doesn't hurt hitting the ball really hard and running in hard sand.
