There are less Europeans when I lived there (3 years before the hand-over.)

However there are expats and foreigners. We have a few Japanese clients out there, but I've only encountered one that has an office in Hong Kong itself. Helps immensely that English is very widely spoken or at least understand by the cab drivers.

My Catonese is terrible however.

Try and go to the Apliu market, you can pick up English DvD's for about 30 dollars.

Guangzhou is nice, especially if you are going to Hong Kong.

hong kong isn't like that funky, you don't have to worry about at all.

I lived in HK for most of my life, hong kong is my home.

If there's anything, any questions you'd like to ask, feel free to ask me.
I've been a tour guide to many of my international friends and all of them had a great experience here.

Am happy to help.

I understand you may get a tad nervous about coming to the Far East. Hong Kong is an international city on par with New York and London, so don't worry, apart from the air pollution that can't be solved, I'm sure you'll be able to adapt easily.

Hong Kong is a sick place. It's completely different from mainland China. It's very Westernized. You should have no problems.
