How should I go on if I want to FIFA like this...

Yo folks,

I already asked in a german forum but without success.
Can somebody tell me how and in which order I should install those things without fifa crushing:
- 2 EA-Patches for having the newest transfers
- CM 08 for editing shoes,kits etc..
- Fatbh-builder cause it's necessary for CM 08
- Backup-Restore Utility cause then I don't have to uninstall FIFa the whole time

PLS answer me if U really know what to do

Step 1

Install FIFA 08 first (FULL install)
(dont go play yet)

Step 2

Copy EA Patch #1 & #2 in your \FIFA08\...
(run EA Patch #1 first, when finished, run Patch #2)

Step 3

Install CM08 (it already has a built-in Regenerator for FAT & BH)
Install and use only the FATBH-builder, if you're going to use external tools.

Step 4

Install Backup-Restore utility.

So, when all done, run FIFA08, and when first asked, create a new profile.
After that, (when in main menu), you'll get a message,
with Online teams installed/added or something like that.

Scroll to Teammanagement ->Team restore settings -> online teams.
Select the Updated online teams, press enter.
(This will add the new roster update from EA Patch #1)

That's all.

Thanks very very much for this very clear and quick answer.
But I didn't understand the thing with the external tools? what do U mean?
I just want to change the kits, boots(keegans and mojacoz' are a lot better than the EA one's) and the strength of the players. Should I do it before playing FIFa for the first time or after I have updated the teams?

Let me explain, from what i know,
and i'll use and paste some information from the CM08 readme document.

the external tools? what do U mean?

If your gonna use external editor tools, you have to use the external FATBH builder.

"FATBH Builder builds fifa.fat and .bh files from zdata.big files.
So, you can import files to zdata.big files using eagraph, biggui, gfxpak or impbig and then run FATBH Builder in order to rebuild fifa.fat and .bh files according to the new files you have imported"

I just want to change the kits, boots and the strength of the players.

If you're not familiar with editing tools and/or editing a game like FIFA, using CM08 is your first step up as a learning curve.

"With Creation Master 08 (CM08) you can edit many of the characteristics of FIFA 08.
CM08 works with the following files: the main database fifa.db, the language database that you have chosen (for example eng.db), the zdata_XX.big archives that contain most of the resources used by FIFA 08 while playing a game and the archives saved under the gui folder that contain the resources used by FIFA 08 for its Graphical User Interface"

Be aware (with editing) that CM08 use and modifies your fifa.db file.

Should I do it before playing FIFa for the first time or after I have updated the teams?

After applying patch #1, it updates/adds the new team/roster.

Run FIFA08 for the first time, and add the New Online teams update,
then, close FIFA08 and run CM08 and first run save.
Selecting Menu > Save

This way, CM08 saves fifa.db with the new added rosters.

After that, you can begin your editing.

If you first start FIFA08, and what i mentioned in previous post,
dont start a (new) career yet, before editing your .db, because CM08 modifies the database and therefore you cannot continue your career.

You can create a career, but don't save it ingame, just exit to Windows.
This way, you can "preview" the changes you made with editing.

"the career files makes some references to the database, modifying the database makes it impossible to continue the career"

e.g. I installed FIFA like U said and edited the game with CM 08 before starting a career. But then after some time I import some new boots or change some players attributes what happens to the saved career?? Can I continue playing the Career even though I had import new things?

Let's say I import some new boots and kits, R U sure that I don't need the Fatbh-Builder? Can U give me an example for one of the external tools U talk about?

This way, CM08 saves fifa.db with the new added rosters

As far as I'm aware CM08 does not touch the updated rosters, since it only edits FIFA.DB and the updates are held in PC_CL.BIN instead. To the best of my knowledge the only way around that (other than reverting to the original version of the game as installed from DVD) is to use my EAFFPatchRollup utility to create a FIFA.DB with the patched rosters incorporated into it - see this post in the 'Players have dissapeared after uploading faces with CM08' thread (and a couple of later ones which give a little more detail on running the utility)
