How to apply black color to kits correctly ??

Can anyone here help me step by step on how to apply black color to kits without losing the texture, so far i have not been able to do this because everytime i paint in black the template´s texture vanish.

Two methods.
1. Do not use plain black (0, 0, 0), use grayish color instead (e.g. 20, 20, 20)
2. Create new adjustment layer. Set brightness as -100 or any until it is acceptable.

Actually i´m working on psd that has: one color leyer and the texture layer, so if you said that i have to create an adjustment layer, this one should be affecting the color layer??

Just look at my tutorial on how to do it in the Kitmaking tips thread...

but seeing as you cannot be bothered... duplicate the texture layer then turn the brightness down about 200% (100% x2) and set the layer to screen
