Hi everyone..
can you tell me how to defend crosses?? I got bored of the game because of crosses and headers :@

most of the goals which I received are headers from crosses :(

I receive 2-3 goals from headers every game :(

I've done some testing, and even on the easiest difficulty level and with ALL CPU PLAYER RATINGS AT 1, the CPU will still nail every cross and corner, putting it onto the head or foot of an attacking CPU player for a shot on goal. Much different than PES for example. In PES, you can edit player ratings to a point where the CPU doesn't have the rating skills to come close to scoring with crosses and corners. But in FIFA, it's hardcoded into the game and there's nothing you can do about it. It's crazy, it's maddening, and it's BAD game programming.

Of course the obvious answer is to try to get your guy into position to defend the cross/corner, blah blah. But when the game coding is set up to cheat like that, it's like trying to wrestle an opponent with one arm tied behind your back. MY SUGGESTION is you try and nullify this particular bit of cheat programming by tuning the sliders. First and foremost, raise the CPU Shot Error slider. That slider works for headers as well. What you'll see is the CPU will still win most headers in front of your goal, but it won't be able to convert them into goals as easily -- shots will fly over the net instead. Be aware you may have to raise the difficulty level you play on to compensate, as the CPU won't be able to score as often.

Try to anticipate the crosses and get your men into position...i have no problem with this crosses...

defend well and anticipate well and you can win headers more than your opponents

there is only one way... score as many goals as possible, so that the goals you may recieve won't be any pont loss... that works for me.

good posetioning and tall defenders ... choosing the right time to jump ,, you'll learn it by time :) i used to get alot of goals from crosse's ,, by the way i usualy cut the cross before its even there .. just contain the player that will cross close the view for him + team mate contain .. if u cant just make some good posetion and be ahead of the striker

In the 1st place try to stop ur opponent from sending a good cross into the box.
More crosses sent into the box means mmore goals of the head :)

try to play defensive strategy so that ur defenders are marking well and when cross comes in defend it by stayin in front of the attacker and clear it....Most basic thing to defend a cross is always try stay ahead of ur attacking striker so that he wont receive the cross freely.

Hope it helps

Crosses

I play on Legendary level and usually win 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 and sometimes even 3-0 against the CPU. A friend of mine usually plays the CPU on professional level and plays with Bayern Munich. I usually play with Barca or Real Madrid

So, yes recently we played like 3 games and he won all 3 of them 5-2 , 6-2 and 4-2

I played with either Barca or Real. 90 percent of the time, his goals were from crosses, and Gomez or Badstuber would just head the ball in somehow. Sometimes, the ball would go directly to his players in the box and they would even score spectacular goals from volleys. I felt that something was out of place. When I play the CPU , I usually win even against Bayern Munich and they do not tend to score from headers that easily. I play with other friends too and they all play with either United, City or Barca or whatever but they have never played with Munich. I win against them too. So, I asked my friend to change teams which he reluctantly did and he played with United and I played with Real. I kicked his ass in this game 6-0. He tried doing the same by running down the wings and crossing the ball but my players were able to clear it. I doubt that it has to do with his skill because if that was the case, he would not lose 6-0 and the moment he played with Bayern, he would score unbelievable goals. I know Robben is fast down the wings but come on; there has to be some problem or bug. At times, he would just press B from like 30 yards and the ball would go in when he played with Bayern. A good player would play well with any team, at least any five star team. I keep trying different teams and I see that my game is more or less the same.

Any comments? I know it is a big strange but I somehow feel that there is some kind of a bug or so. Bayern has never been so good and the funniest thing is that Bayern can be beaten quite easily even on Legendary level

maybe its just how comfortble he is with certain players? i feel better in manager mode, when i take a team and build it my way than tinkering with whts there...like usually a tall defence and fast wing players

Dont have a problem with defending crosses but do have a problem with scoring from them, that is until I got a player with the power header trait!!! :)

I dont have too many problems defending crosses. Although in my initial career with defenders below 60 i had. All i do i look for the yellow marker try to get ahead of it and keep pressing 'B' with direction of outside the box. It works most of the time. Sometimes it doesn't and what the heck... have to give credit to the CPU for putting in a good cross and get on with it!

barge the attackers off the ball and play keep ball or if you're defending a corner, wait till the ball comes over, get it, run it out wide, keep it and wait for a player to make a pass to. the best way to defend cross, is to kick the ball, back into the other half

I found a new way... Just buy Jean-Alain Boumsong from Panathinaikos ;) Man, he clears everything that flies!!!
