How to trash my friend?

Hey folks,

I have played fifa many times around my friends house and another friend of mine has found out and is now giving me all this smack talk about how he’s gonna thrash me etc…

So I decided to trade in some old games and films and buy fifa12.

I know most of the buttons and everything, I’m just not very good at it.

So I was just wondering what would be the best way for me to improve? Would it be to play a ton of games against people online? Play a ton against the computer?

What kind of tips would you have liked to have known when starting out to be a better player?

Kom, I'm new too.... been playing fifa for a mere 3 weeks and had never played before (except a few world cup games on the wii) and I'd say do a number of things.. First use the practice mode some to get good with controlling the ball and general movements plus learn to shoot.

Then play offline and online.... For offline play, I use professional settings (which I believe rate out at about division 8 on the head to head seasons scale) and have a tough time beating a team that ranks higher than me. Learn one or 2 teams and learn what formations you like (there's plenty of info floating around the web on this) and just practice.

Also Youtube is great for tutorials.... Incrimentally learn what you need to improve for that day and the work on making that improvement a habit. If you want recommendations on teams and strategies and formations, find an expert around here or pm me.... (i'm no expert but give it a good deal of thought).

hey kom, the best way is by learning the game yourself. I've played FIFA in many years and frankly, I mastered the game. In FIFA 12 i can beat barcelona in Legendary mode.

the thing is simple, to master the game, first you need to master the level. try playing in amateur mode, then move up to semi pro, the pro and world class lastly to the legendary mode.

play against good team so that you can learn their gameplay and try to tweak a bit and implement it in your gameplay. this will make you better and what can i say, you can easily trash your friend with it.

do more practise, and may your way to the top of table.

Play against the computer. Start of easy difficulty and work up as you get better. Don't worry about skills and looking good just work on the basics. How to pass and play through balls this is the key to scoring simple goals. Work on defending how and when to tackle and importantly winning headers.

Find a team you like and a formation and tactic you like. I would play defensive first against a human player rather than going all out attacking and leaving a high line.

Practice corners, freekicks and pens as they can win you games.

Yes, practice, Practice im afraid, If that doesnt work then pick a better team than him with a good defence!!
