All I've got to say is that after seeing all those damn ads about the US and stuff Im glad they lost. Maybe now they'll tone it down some and we can watch the games in peace. But I hope ESPN shows the next WC even though they lost.

This is funny. I'm an American, I love my country, and I'm as patriotic as anyone, but people need to get a grip. I'm no soccer expert, but everyone knew we had no chance to win this world cup. Everyone knew we were supposed to be good but nowhere near great. Today, even to the untrained eye, it was pretty clear we played a team that does have a chance to win the cup and is great, and we caught them on a day where we didn't play very well and they played out of their mind. That cross to Koller was disgusting, absolutely perfect, and the goal from outside the box was the goal of the tournament so far. Nothing we can do about that. We lost to a better team. Now we play the Italians. They also are better than us, but maybe we have a good day and they don't on Saturday. Soccer is growing in America, and our team is improving, but anyone who thinks we're even close to being ready is insane. The players on these great teams have been training since they could walk, in the US our developmental system is still getting off the ground. In these countries 80% of the kids play soccer, in the US it's nowhere near that high. As long as people support US soccer it will continue to improve, but to think we're going to erase a 100 year head start by the rest of the world in a decade is pretty unrealistic. Just sit back, enjoy the matches, and hope for the best. That's what I'm doing. And if you get pissed off that we're not the best soccer nation in the world, remember that after this world cup even if we do poorly we're still Americans, and the people in the rest of the world still aren't. That always perks me right up.

I agree that the WC should be a time when national pride goes sky high but there's no point in fightning and hating on one another.

Topics like these do not make the situation better. First the American hataz hate on America then the Americans retaliate and it's an endless circle.

You can't eliminate hate in the world but you can keep it out of football. Leave it for other assholes, terrorists, politicians, whateva, etc.

"All of a sudden"? No, no one is following the World Cup. No one. I've followed since I was 11, World Cup 94, that's the first soccer I remember. My friends as well are watching, even though most of them don't care at all. But they watched in 2002 and 1998.

You're hilarious, really. Oh, I'm not racist, I just want to surround myself with people who look like me because societies with a lot of mixed race people have all these problems like divorce! You. Are. Stupid.

There are 300 million people in this country, how many do you think listen to punk, or rap, or consider the virgin Mary covered in **** art? A majority do not. Of course I don't think there's anything wrong with any of them, they all are valid artistic expression. Just because you don't agree with the opinion and cannot share the viewpoint doesn't mean it is not valid.

Kezman, I lived in Romania and my family moved to Canada (similar to America) and the people here don't think about the stuff you think about because they just try to enjoy their life and live it... it is obvious YOU have issues with your country and your-self and you are taking it out on America.

the only reason ppl r bashing american football is because most americans show little intrest in it they only like sports that they r good in so that is all their gonna put on tv and promote however since they r not good in football they wont show that on tv or even mention it u dont see them talking about their fat obesed kids americans cant except that their not good in football and neither can they except their problems in the country.
