Only two months late with the reply. But what I would say is don't focus too much on tactics, keep the game as simple as you can for them. Work on there passing and moving because if you have the most possesion then you will win more matches than you'll lose.
But more importantly, let each kid express themselves and develop naturally.

thanks man i appreciate that you didnt flame or cuss me out for this thread like most individuals...the team is doing well, we have struggled to score but mostly due to lack of concentration. The kids are learning the game rather well and the majority are enthusiastic about it

At under 14 level you should also start thinking of fitness training. Not much, mind you, but just gradually.

You will always get lack of concentration at that level, there isn't too much you can do about it.

yeah you can't expect 14 year olds to concentrate fully, have you got any really good players in your squad? you should obviously focus on getting those players who probably play for themselves to get the team going and such...

Late but I think if there was one thing you should coach on, it would be composure. Coach them to be willing to receive the ball and holding it by 'Pig In The Middle' drills. That will improve their composure on the ball.
