I get a little tired listening to Europeans complain that it's because EA is in Canada that the game suffers so much. IMHO, these games are developed by computer nerds. I doubt many EA guys in Canada actually play hockey either. Put the studio wherever you want, but I still feel the developers spent more time as youngsters in their room behind a screen than they ever did going outside and actually playing football or hockey or whatever. Thats why they are good at programming.

Believe me, the NHL series has problems with it to. It doesn't play like the real game either.

We just have to face the facts the EA is a big company and probably rotates its' staff for each new series in a sport. All we can do is give them our opinions and hope for the best the next year.

Put the company in Canada, England, Italy, Spain, Brazil or wherever, I still think the same thing will happen.

There. I feel better now. Canada rules!

and good on them...They've got such a huge population, at least one of them would know how to make a decent game

Well, it's actually pretty funny, that EA haven't had that much luck creating a good football game, considering they've used the best players in America and Canada in the development of the FIFA games, asking them to play the game, mentioning what's wrong, unrealistic or just flat out stupid...

Either both America and Canada don't have any good football players, or else ... Well, EA just suck ... Considering both USA and Canada have multigifted players (What's up with that Freddy Adu ? :) )

your opinion, mate...but i still believe that 98% of the forum knows that these games are created with the help of experts...and what i find hard to believe is that EA Canada haven't taken the time to create an interface that works like NHL or accurate stats like NBA Live...that's just lack of effort in those areas...the gameplay is great, but the rest of the game isn't...and i think you'll agree with me if i say that i'm right :)

Then come over to the dark side, the PES of NHL: ESPN NHL Hockey!

Oh by the way, Stand clear of NHL Rivals, it's a stinker!!! :kader:

the should try Ronaldo and some other experienced players to make a good soccer game

Why don't they just try fans instead of their publicity stunts?

Um...wrong. Take a look at a PRODUCTION TEAM and you will see that only a part of the team are actually programmers.

I'd hate to leave out a position, but the production teams I have worked on for Multimedia, besides progammers, include:

Art Director
Project Manager
Producer
Editor
Sound Engineer
Sound Designer
Graphic Artists (hand drawn)
Graphic Artists (CAD)
Modellers
Human models / actors
etc...

None of these were programmers. These were in addition to the programmers. Many were athletes of some type and had all had lives outside of a computer studio. The programmers themselves were also a varied bunch of guys and girls (yes, them as well.)...so it would be really stupid to assert that they're all computer nerds. Not everyone in programming is a Bill Gates type with bloodshot eyes, nasty hair and poor hygiene.

And for a Canadian you stereotype, paint with the same brush and do all the things Canadians are supposed to be opposed to, because it's too much like what their neighbors would do...

You make good points and I agree. I did go overboard a bit and apologize. It's just that I see a lot of posts (you on another thread by the way) criticize Canada for this game. If EA can't get their s*** together don't blame the country the studio sits in. I'm sure if the studio were in your country and didn't turn out to people's expectations, you would be unhappy with quotes like "Oh it must be the Irish. They were probably drunk again."
I just get a little sensitive because I love football and have been playing and refeering for over 25 years. I do understand football even if our national team sucks.:crazyboy:

Just for the record. NHL 2004 is so much better than Fifa. it´s more real, and much less buggy!

The thing I dislike about NHL 2004 is that for the final period the cpu plays like it has overdosed on steriods. All you can do is change the strategy to defend lead, cross fingers and hope for the best.

I have to go back through all of my NHL games to find my favorite version - I think it may have been NHL 2001.

To be frank i don't think the game is complete. Because looking at it's presentation Ea was trying to be overly ambitious. So maybe because of they were trying to realease the game in time for november they rushed it.

NHL '95 was the cream of the crop. Great game.
