For those of u who think EA should have let the skill settings remain from 1-99 instead of 1-7, i think a smaller scale setting is more realistic. Take for example my team Singapore. It may not be one of the best, but that doesn't mean that our players can't kick the ball as far as brasilians do!
In the previous versions of FIFA, it was frustrating, coz the players in the weaker teams were like kids kicking the ball compared to the other 'adults'!!
And the weaker players ran like turtles compared to gigss, overmars etc.
So the rating system is fair to us in a way.
ie.not much difference between players.
Maybe the players shouldn't be rated at all!
In SEGA's Virtua Striker series, the players all have around the same attributes, and the teams have fixed formations. Hence every team is the same, except for the formations of the various teams u chose. And the player with the ball is always slower than a player without, to balance the game. Every player can shoot as far(with a powerBar). Maybe certain teams are weaker in certain areas, etc South africa in heading(thats the case in VS) or the brasilians are a wee bit quicker.

In fact, i vote for a skill system of 1-5 in the next FIFA. Any takers?

Ok the game you described, well I think you can take that game, turn it sideways... well you know the rest.

The point is I think a large percentage of people out here want the ratings of players to be realistic. As to all the players being basically the same that is nonsense. What, all players can suddenly kick as hard as Roberto Carlos? or have ball skills like Rivaldo? come on now you know that is not true.

Well, I agree with both of you. You might find players that can kick the ball hard and run very fast in real life, but they're still bad footballers. I don't think ManU's players are much faster than the players on ManCity.
But then again you should have a difference between the players. The problem with FIFA is, that I don't notice any effect of the attributes other than speed and shooting. A player with tackling down to 1 can still win a lot of tackles. A player with the heading ability of 7 still loses to players with 2 in heading.
And the ball skills? It's all timing in FIFA. If you time it right, most players can pull a successful fake.
