I've saved a couple of grand as of late and want to start investing whilst i am still a teenager.

My Dad says if i am to buy some shares that i should:

Buy small amounts in several different companies and either:

A) Buy them and forget about them or
B) Pay attention to them every day.

Knowing myself i will not pay any attention to them.

Anyone got any tips to what company(s) would be good ot invest in?

i invested all mah money in different way.....
i give it to loan and gets 10% of it every month till he/she pay back the monay to me.....
it's very2 effective but i do think bout safety too, so i make him sign an argreement so he can't run away with mah money.....
i pay my monthly internet bills, phone bills, buying cd's all from the income i get each month.....
for me, this is da best way to mutliply my grans......:)

so far, i've invested half from my grans, and got back 3x from the real monay i invested (not included the monay he have to pay me back)

I think AMP would be good to invest in.

Yesterday it signed an agreement with its parent company in the Uk and AMP is now a free company and can expand. Also this mean shares will rise, they rose 15cents at the end of trading yesterday.

Another 50/50 company like AMP atm would be Virgin Blue, they have only recently been floated on the stock market and I think if you get in early, will be a worth while investment, unless they go bankrupt like companys that have tried to take on Qantas have before, but for some reason I think Virgin Blue would be a good investment.

Also, maybe you could wait for Telstra 3, if the government gets its way. Stay away from Insurance but, because its bushfire season.

bhp are expensive tho, its probably best to do short term investments at the moment, like find a new company, wait till ur money doubles or triples, then bail

Guys i am gonna buy 500 Virgin Blue shares for the moment and see how i go with them.

If they go good and i buy more and become a millionaire i will treat every person in this thread with a shiny penny.

Thanks guys.
