hi guys...

I was wondering that most of the teams r/were driven by a captain who is a world class CM....gerrard,keane,veira,lampard,ballack,etc... what do u think a captains ideal postion is .... GK,CB,CM or CF and why ?

Does it make any difference ? And what is the responsibility of the captain in the match according to u

i personally dont like GK captains

Obviously, it should be whoever is someone that can inspire and motivate the players through words or action.

For me, a center midfielder is the best option because he is involved with everyone on his team, as opposed to a forward or a winger who is going to be somewhat isolated.

Centre Back.

However, position should not be the determining factor in picking a captain, it should be the best man for the job, regardless.

CM is probably best

cause he can talk to all the players without having to travel that far to communicate, CM can run the show and have a good view of all the happenings

Eg. Vieira at arsenal

is it because a cb is a good 'fighter' and therefore a good 'leader' ?

Has to do with line of sight.

A forward is typically disconnected from the team, and can't see the team at all times, or the other team.

A defensive player, like a defensive mid, a center back, or a goalkeeper can see the whole field and adjust the tactics as such.

But, if the forward is the heart of the team (Henry at Arsenal, Larsson at Celtic, Pauleta at PSG, ect) then there is no reason he shouldn't be captain.

I'd say as a midfielder, he'll have responsibility for both the attack and defence. So i think a CM would be the best position.

CM, cause he's the one who's usually working the most in both of game's aspects (attack and defence).

a Pirlo-esque position is the best. (Xavi, Xabi, Fabregas)

but IMO, strikers are the worst choice.

sometimes strikers can shoot from 30 yards and miss by 10 yards and they would put their face in their hands.. surely not motivational..

any central position in the midfield

reason:can communicate with the defence and attack at any time
can lead the way by defending and attacking well.

Hah Zlatan I like how you can link everything to FM (H)

I'd prefer my capitan to be a CB or CM, they need to be hard working fighters that play to the last minute an constantly motivating the team. Wingers/Strikers are a bit to "fancy" for my liking, apart from strikers like Shearer.

The captain should have the knowledge and leadership to be able to tell when they're needed around his teams' penalty area, picking out the oppositions main threat, sweeping the lose long balls, feeding the ball out to the flanks

Also, when in possession, He should be influential with the ball in midfield and even getting up forward. A box to box midfielder who can put in a tackle.
