It's a preference thing that I think probably depends on age: the older you get the slower you want your games to play. That's why I play on slow settings with all players rated 1 speed.

also think it depends on what game mode you prefer too. If you an "onliner" and seasons/FUT 1v1 type ... its a speed fest requirement or bust.

"offliners" mainly prefer playing a game that represents something less than a "game" but "TV" .. so thats the requirement there.

So perception of whats fast or slow depends on the gourp you fit into, an onliners slow is a offliners speed fest, whereas an offliners slow/normal is an onliners "stuck in mud F*** U EA!!!!!!!!!!!!!" :)

EA panders to onliners first & then shoves some tweak bits for offline use if you want as afterthoughts.

yeah, what i meant by slow is the reactions of the players and how long it takes them to accelerate and react to your commands (skills combinations, the turns away from defenders, controls..) but you are right about the pace of the game in terms of transitions from defence to attack. bear in mind, i play against AI in legendary level and the sliders are useless, there is difference between difficult and enjoyable and difficult just to make it unenjoyable, unrealistic and not fluid at all. i didn't enjoy the NG gameplay in the video which looks similar to the CG. i will make a video of 2 games between AI's of both FIFA 14 and PES 2014 (patched with PESedit) and you will all notice that PES is going the right way in terms of gameplay, I managed to take away the fifa instinct i have (start playing fifa since the 2008 edition on ps3) and tried to adapt to the new pes 2014 gameplay, and the result is that the more i play pes 2014 the more realistic it becames, they still need more but Konami are going in the right way this time, and PESedit patch makes it a bit more complete with the licenses and the realism it add (real kits, teams, leagues, faces, boots..). STILL FIFA13 MW PATCH 13/14 IS THE MOST ENJOYBLE TO PLAY FOR THE MOMENT ;) Cheers

Actually, I agree. At first PES 2014 looked and played awfull to me, but more and more time I spend with it, it feels better and better. FIFA 14 DEMO is the best of it all this year, but PES 2014 recently caught my time a lot and I really enjoy it (which as the whole point of PES vs FIFA debate) more then FIFA 14 Full at the moment. There are lot of stuffs PES 2014 lacks off, but none of them is big gameplay breaking. Old fashion UI, old ML Mode and almost 80% of generic faces. KONAMI's modified Fox Engine for PES is not performing with full potential. Changes are huge, though. Running animations are better then in FIFA by far, and stadium atmosphere is fantastic, absolutely fantastic. I could go for flaws in PES gameplay, but lets leave it for PES Forum.

The shooting in PES is the worst, Worst then FIFA 2000.
Thats its main flaw.

back on topic ... I will be more interested in fifa15 onwards to see what they actually do with this engine (if anything) ... other then that I wont hold by breath.

However, I am so impressed by the trailers that I will go for a ps4 and fifa 14 for it and cry everytime while playing because I became a poor man. good for Sony and ea that there a guys like me that are so stupid^^
