I really think it's very disappointing
We've gathered so many ideas and suggestions for FIFA2003
and THIS is all we get.
I had the impression the game was somehow incomplete
it was NOTHING what i had expected it to be

And it's always the same with FIFA.
the other games like Madden, NBA, NHL etc keep getting better and better and in FIFA they remove the really cool stuff from it, add tiny bit of improvements and then leave the REAL CRAP in it.
it's like going 3 steps further than going them right back again and we're back to point Zero!!!!

WHY???????

I think most people would agree that Fifa2003 is a step in the right direction :) (obviously PES lovers would disagree regardless...)

PES fans should remember that PES is not perfect and from the sounds of it PES2 has not improved as much as it should. At least Fifa2003 is much better than Fifa2002 :rockman:

And what makes you think that PES fans would disagree that FIFA2003 is a step in the right direction? Do you listen to what PESers think?

Ofcourse FIFA2K3 is a step in the right direction (and I will stop with that statment).

I have no complaints about the game i think its good, but i have a suggestion for EA, next year take a year off and dont make fifa 2004, but make work on the FIfa 2005 for 2 yrs and then make it much much better.

I was a little bit dissapointed with 2003. But I cant complain too much because it is a god improvement from the last. I just wished that the game had more emotion to it. Emotion meaning something of a combination of Champ Manager. Anyone agree? And how come there aren't any good International cup play in 2003?

It's all about business...EA will release FIFA every year as long as they have decent profits.

This year, they have geared FIFA 2003 more towards the European market with the details in the european clubs, stadia, etc....because PES was outselling FIFA last year.

But as long as there are customers for FIFA (which there are..) they will keep releasing it every year.

My only hope is that we the customers get the best game, be it FIFA 200x or PESx/WEx.
Next year will be interesting, with WE/PES entering the US market.
If we get the best of FIFA (graphics, licenses) and the best of PES/WE (gameplay), then it would be brilliant !!

FIFA 2003 = Nice Graphics, NO Gameplay, and a simple profit miliker by EA.

FIFA is officially DEAD after this release....

I am a staunch PES fan and when I got this game I was really happy with it. Sure its not as good as PEs, but I think its a real improvement on past FIFA's, definately the best since the cartridge versions.
In the past I could name a list as long as my arm for the faults of FIFA, but now if;
a) The passing was crisper and more accurate - its too bobbly and sloppy, nice fast along the ground short passes please
b) the long balls were improved, like in the style of ISS2
c) AI - positioning, defence, and corners
d) they seem to do a few keepy-uppies when they controlling the ball- very unrealistic

If they improved these aspects I'd be very happy. I say well done EA, just move the development team to a country that knows about football, not just loves it, and PES will be in trouble.

I do listen...I was previously a PES fan and since Fifa2003 has been released PES fans refuse to admit that Fifa has finally caught up with it - I admit that gameplay Fifa has still got some ground to make up - but PES has got major ground to make up in the presentation/commentarory/license stakes.

As long as there is competition around ,both games will improve.

Last year Ea found out about Konami and this year Konami didn't expect Fifa....have fun with the games this year and wait for the explosion next year!!!!!!!!!:hump:

Whoa!! :o hold up! You are saying two different things. 'Going in the right direction' is one thing which no one thinking straight would refute. 'FIFA has finally caught up with PES' is a very different thing. FIFA hasn't caught up with PES, it still has a ways to go. Just as FIFA has ground to cover in gameplay, PES has ground to cover in presentation. This is not anything new from what I've said in my recent posts, but saying FIFA has caught up with PES is like me saying that PES (because of 8 more teams in ML) has caught up with FIFA...exactly, doesn't make sense.

I'm a PES/WE player myself. I have been willing to give FIFA 2003 a chance. It is a step in the right direction, but it still has a long way to go before beating PES/WE.
FIFA 2003 = Authentic graphics, kits, stadia,
leagues, faces. Average gameplay.
PES2/WE6 = Good gameplay. Average kits, stadia.
Fake names, teams (but editable).

Overall I would say PES/WE6 is still better, but if FIFA fix their glaring AI bugs and further improve the gameplay, then it will be a great game. Right now it's a decent game.

But if Konami add licenses, authentic kits, etc, then FIFA will be in real trouble.

Somehow, I don't trust Konami to do so, but I hope that when they release WE in the US, they do so.

Oh they have to wake up in order to compete. I mean, I know of people that are already switching to FIFA because of the gameplay improvements. Man shall not live on gameplay alone. In two years (fifa2k5) Fifa would have reached Konami's gameplay efforts, if Konami doesn't start addign teams (a la next release), they'll be in trouble. If they are smart, just as FIFA was sharpened by PES/WE great gameplay, PES/WE will be sharpened by FIFA's excellent presentation.
