With windows xp support coming to an end on April, the only option I have is to switch to a newer version of Windows?

Is it possible for me to continuing using Windows XP with some special fix or something?

Thanks..

Special fix for what? What are you going to be running that will no longer work? Very vague question.

It's possible, but some new software will not work on Windows XP.

For example, any software that use .NET Framework 4.5 (I think Creation Master, for example) will not work.

New hardware will not get XP drivers also.

To add to newbie's post, You'll also be vulnerable to new viruses.

I plan on running XP on one of my partitions, It just won't be my primary OS. Windows 7 is what I use and I'm happy with it.

Only assuming that you rely on Windows for your anti virus software, which is a silly thing to do anyway.

To be honest, I got off XP years ago. Windows 7 is good. Certainly don't think it's worth keeping an XP partition. Quite a waste of space I think.

I have 2TB of HD space and put 20Gb for the XP partition. so it was an easy decision when I did it. This time around though, I'm most likely going to remove XP completely. Also, that was the OS I would let others use when they wanted to use my Computer :D.

Security issues may cause you to lose sleep.

As you know, I hate to go off topic, but you are quite right that you should be embarrassed.

That is why the word embarrassed has the word ass in it.

thanks for the responses.
So, Windows xp support ended, but I'm still going to continue using it and see how long it lasts.
As far as I'm with an antivirus everything should be ok, right?

Use old windows in your old computer for only playing old video games which aren't compatible with new PC and windows and don't use internet. And in your new PC- completely opposite.
I still use Windows 98 in my old PC and Windows 7 in my new one.

I recently switched from Windows XP to Windows 7. I did choose Windows 7 instead of Windows 8 because a lot of people told me that Windows 7 was so great and there would be no problems with using older programs and games.

Wrong!

FIFA09 don't work with Windows 7. There is a horrible graphic problem which makes the players look and act like Frankenstein's monster with outstretched arms and fingers long as swords. I liked to play FIFA 09 thanks to the incredible World Cup patch where I could play almost ALL tournaments with almost ALL countries and it was easy to edit kits and players. Now all that is gone. I did buy FIFA 11 but there are a lot of problems with kit importing and no good World Cup patch either so I haven't played a single football game in months. Just got tired of all problems.

I had to buy a new scanner, a program I used for sports league creation doesn't work with Windows 7 and there are no replacement programs available.

The only things that works is an Ice hockey game (NHL 2004) thanks to a living, constructive community where smart people have managed to create patches and fixes which can overcome all problems with Windows 7 and 8. Otherwise there had been noo hockey games for me either.

The compatibility option in Windows 7 is a joke. Doesn't work with anything.

And they say that Windows 8 is even worse. Help!

If you want to play games on your computer, then keep XP.

I couldn't play my old games in win7 ultimate 32bit. But after I changed to 64 bit in my same PC- most of the old games started to work like FIFA 99 to current FIFA games. Do you use win7 ultimate 64 bit or something else?

Also, I heard that only win7 ultimate has backward compability. And I have no problems in FIFA 09 in win7 even with 32 bit version.
