improve, don't include!

OK, everybody is wishing to include his favorite league or to have his favorite players' faces perfectly desinged...etc.
everybody has been saying this for every single year.
and then, when the game is released, complaints about crappy gameplay and bad game modes start, as if you wished for them to be better!
A few people who are really wishing for totally improved gameplay and good seletion of game modes.
Why is Winning Eleven (Pro Evolution Soccer) so competitive with FIFA even though it has much less leagues and players? Because it has good core. It has good implementation of the game. It has the "soccer fever" element.
Btw, I'm a FIFA fan, and I'm waiting for the FIFA version that brings the enjoyment in gameplay regardless of how many leagues, clubs, or players it has.
If FIFA developers come to this forum, they think that FIFA fans don't give a crap about gameplay. The only thing the fans want is more leagues, more clubs, more accurate faces...etc.
We should start to care more about gameplay. I'm not saying we should forget about the leauges and clubs, but we have to give the gameplay its fair share of importance too.
Give EA some gameplay ideas. Let them know how you will enjoy the game, in respect to gameplay. Let them know how to increase the "lasting appeal" score.
Of course we want more leagues, of course we want more clubs, of course want want well designed faces, and of course EA will do this! EA's been doing this every year. What EA hasn't been doing is improving what they add to the game. I get excited about a new feature that is included in the current version, but then I find it has some flows which get more annoying over time. Then, next year, I get so excited about the new feature that I forget about the old one and its flows. So I try the new feature, it's exciting for a few days, but then I find the flows and I remember about the old feature which is still there not improved or its improvements are hardly noticeable.
This way FIFA gets bigger, has more features, more clubs, more leagues, AND more annoyances, more bugs, more flows that are added each year.
What's the percentage of you not buying FIFA 2006 if EA says that they didn't include any new leagures, clubs, or playres, however, they've made a great job in improving the gameplay and game modes? For me it's almost 0%.
Then reviews will give it high scores and MORE people will buy it.

I know some people don't care about the game as long as their favorite team is included. What's the point if you're team is included but is not like the real team at all! Good players in your team just get tackled and outrun easily by the opponent team players that are supposed to be so slow.

EA can make the best soccer game ever, but from what I'm seeing here and in previous versions of FIFA, I don't believe this is going to happen any time soon.

Ya I agree FIFA has not-so-great gameplay, but hey, maybe they will improve it next year. You see, I always notice a major gameplay difference when I get a new FIFA game because I get one every TWO years (I alternate with NHL games), which gives them time to make a signifigant improvement. However, with the slim (but real) possibility of no NHL next year, I may have to take my chances with FIFA 2006, and hope it's been improved enough.

well CL 04/05 was a pretty good improvement from FIFA 2005, so hopefully they can work on imporving gameplay from CL04/05

Hmmm, maybe they can apply the CL 2005 gameplay into FIFA 2006...It's possible. heck, knowing EA's cheapness, they'll probebly do what'll involve the least amount of work! :jap:

The thing that i can,t understand is why EA constantly seem to move 1 step forward & 2 steps back, with the Fifa series.

I decided to blow the dust off Fifa04, and have a play for a couple of hours last night.
Although it has it,s own fair share of flaws, i couldn,t believe the amount of good features which really should have been carried through to Fifa05.
Why are EA unable to improve on the versions that they have ?...
I mean, keep the features which are good & obviously improve the bad areas..

The main noticeable areas is in the player animations & gameplay. The AI is near enough spot on, regarding player movement and positioning. ie: Defence & Midfield movement patterns. (Why the hell did EA decide to go back to playing so Zonal, in 05 ?) .. :nape:
Theres much more movement in your players, and even the triggered player Runs, are better.
Meaning more Midfield battles, more chances of beating the Off-side trap, Better counter attacks, where you out number Defences and more 1 on 1,s with the keeper.

Also the ability to hold (shield) the ball up, then lay it off, to another player or shoot.
Even the tackling is better & more realistic in 04, tackles have to be better timed. Theres more silly fouls given away in 04, ie: tripping & bumping into a player.

Walking mode + tricks, by holding down R2 & using R/A stick...
The Cpu Attacking patterns & shots are more varied, and seem less scripted than in 05.
Shooting is more varied also, the Cpu will score more realistic goals and shoot central, far post shots, or square the ball across the 6yrd box for a tap in, rather than 95% shooting/ heading near post, as in Fifa05.
The animations are better too, theres more (realistic) sidefooted, placed/ curled shots in 04. Rather that those horrible (unrealistic), toe punted or the, off the outside of the foot (at an angle) shots, in 05... :nape:
Theres more curl on the shots, too ( Replays )..

Other stuff ...
Player, Goal Celebrations are better & more varied.
Theres even a close up of the crowd celebrating, at times when you score ..

Full match Officials ( Ref & Linesmen )

Better Camera Angles/ Zoom .. It was nice to go back to my old Action Cam, zoomed in.
Looks & Feels, so much better. Same with the Broadcast Cam..

Substitution Icons .. Theres even an on screen pop up icon, that tells you that your player is busted up .. lol

Better Pitches.. More varied textures & the pitches become more cut up & patchy in areas, like goal mouth & centre circle (during career mode/Tournaments)

Varied Crowd Attendances ... Looks much more Realistic..

Individual player switching ... Makes more sense to me, to control the player nearest to the ball. (when defending)

IMO, all of the above mentioned features, should have been left in the game.
The gameplay engine should have been improved/expanded etc, to acommadate for the Additions & improvements, such as the passing, through balls, movement and of course First Touch.

It just seems that theres no common sense being used, when it comes to these sorts things. :jambo:

Well said...

Great points SHAFT! I agree with you. :)

It is true; FIFA fails to carry over what it does well. FIFA WC 2002 had passion, FIFA 2002 had good editing options, FIFA 2003 included an International Tournament mode (for those of us who must play WC style soccer), FIFA 98 RWC had everything in terms of FUN FACTOR. But inexplicably, these things have not carried over to today’s FIFA game (despite positive feedback regarding these features). :kader:
