In defense of Pascal Cygan (seriously)

Cygan is big, bald, slow, lumbering, and worst of all to the mainstream press in England...French.

Because of this, he gets mountains of bad press that people (including myself) bought into, until i relized something.

Cygan has never put a foot wrong that he wasen't expected to. Arsenal have won 12 matches this year, Cygan has featured in 11 of those wins. The full number Arsenal have won 11 of Cygan's 15 matches, keeping 9 clean sheets in the process. He's also Arsenal's best passer not named Dennis Bergkamp, and yes, he's one of the top-10 passers in England. Don't beleive me? Watch him, he rarely messes them up.

I can't remember Pascal having any terrible matches this year, atleast not when he's been deployed at LCB. Can you?

So why is he the scapegoat? "He's funny looking" isn't a good answer, because Rooney looks like Shrek.

Maybe Anti was right.

He might be slow, bald, funny looking but personally to be honest he isn't that bad really as most people say. He tackles well and passes well. Its just that he's too damn slow and maybe not suitable for the pace of the EPL and not suitable for that LB position. He can't run but can defend quite well and tackles hard even if he's slow to respond.

Top 10 passers in the epl? hahahahaha.

Maybe when expectations are low, he can be more fluid and look alot better. He was only getting slated when you had to replace Lauren/Toure/Campbell or Cole with him. Maybe team form has everything to do with it. Then again, makes you wonder how woeful Boumsong and Bramble have to be.

Didn't i always stick up for Pascal?....How many times did i say, that the gooners did not realise what a diamond lurks under that nervous exterior.He never did deserve the stick he got.Man he's even scored the odd goal or two.
Glad you appreciate him Bobby.
Wenger is playing worse players in Arsenals defence than Pascal,thats for sure.

Ive ALWAYZ said Cygan isnt as bad as everyone says, he obviously lacks pace and does sometimes switch off but on the whole he is an accomplished defender, and he is the best passer out of our defenders, probably in the league.

People tend to forget he played in our best ever champions league victory too

But yea i seen him play he isn't that bad, he's just slow at playing the LB position. How's senderos doing Bobby? he still developing well? I remember watching the Bayern vs Arsenal game at Highbury the guy was a wall

Senderos is good, but he got too big too fast, can't control his new body. Weird as it sounds.

He'll grow into it tho.

^ye hes injured now. he aint too bad, but *usually* when the other team scores a goal, he is generally out of position.

regarding senderos, i would say that djourou has suddenly started to develop really well and i think in the last game or two hes been better than senderos. but senderos DOES have more experience..
