In Memoria e Amicizia - RIP 39

Twenty years ago today, 39 football fans died at the Heysel stadium in Brussels before our European Cup Final against Juventus. Although many factors contributed to the tragedy, it is inescapable that violence by reds fans played a major role in the deaths of 32 Italians, four Belgians, 2 Frenchmen and one man from Northern Ireland.

That is totally out of place here, you're a retard.

It's sad how in many stadiums in Italy when certain teams play against Juventus reference is made to those Juventini who died at Heysel, pathetic.

Which is actually quite understandable after you see the footage of what happened.

i know what the liverpool fans did can never really be forgotten and what Zauli did is an absolute disgrace but people have to remember there are two sides to every story and ther is no smoke without fire

there is proof that many juventus fans were throwing rocks and some even firing/had guns at/brandishing towards liverpool fans

i am in no way saying what the liverpool fans did is excusable but i don't understand why Juventus fans will not forgive

One of the darkest days ever for football. Having been to that same Stadium the tragic ghosts of what occured twenty years back still linger. Having only seen the actual footage of the Heysel Disaster just recently, it is some of the most chilling, shocking images I have ever viewed and I sincerely hope I don't have to ever witness anything similar in my lifetime.

At times we all get so absorbed into the obscure, wacky worlds this weird, wonderful game drags us into, but events like Heysel serve as a reminder there are indeed some things bigger than 22 men trying to boot some leather into a goal.

oh lord, what a disaster and what a sad day! i comemmented in the juve thread about it. i mean fair enough we were celelbrating the scudetto last night but it hurt to know that the same day we celebrate lo scudetto we have to remember the 39 juventini that were killed. i wonder whether there was a minutes silence anytime b4 the match??

i wasnt born but reading about it just makes me emotional. fans supporting their fave team in a trophy that constantly eludes us!! :( 2 times winners, 8 times runners up. but that record shouldnt be spoken about. football lost a lot that day!! and well juve has to stick with its history knowign that their first of 2 ucls was won in possibly the darkest day in a final match!!

rest in peace bianconeri!!!
