If mancini starts miha again this year ill be pissed :kader:

All these good purchases this year then 1 last move on the last day made our defence extremely week.

The only hope is that Burdisso can adapt well and i think that he will.

Vieri should have put away the chance he had...

Adriano ability shines through
Tuesday, 14 September 2004
By Ivan Carvalho at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium

Two goals from Adriano helped FC Internazionale Milano open their UEFA Champions League campaign with a comfortable victory against Werder Bremen.

Red card
The Group G encounter saw drama on five minutes when the German champions were reduced to ten men following the dismissal of defender Valérien Ismael for a professional foul. A difficult task for the underdogs was made even harder, and although Christian Vieri missed the resulting penalty, they had no answer to the dynamic skills of Adriano.

Brazilian inspiration
The Brazilian was a menace to the Bremen defence throughout and, but for a second-half miss, could have ended the game with a hat-trick. It was his strong run, latching onto a clever through-ball from Emre Belözoglu, which led to Ismael's dismissal. The centre-half tripped the 20-year-old inside the penalty area, denying him a clear goalscoring opportunity, giving referee Luboš Michel little option but to reach for the red card.

Penalty miss
Vieri struck the spot-kick with power and confidence but his shot was too close to Andreas Reinke, who dived low to his right to make the save. The Bremen goalkeeper's heroics acted as inspiration for his team and Inter initially struggled to make their one-man advantage count.

Adriano spot on
But the game took a decisive turn in the 34th minute when, in a near-repeat of the Ismael incident, Adriano was tripped just inside the penalty area. This time it was Juan Sebastián Verón with the pass though Michael only deemed Frank Baumann's desperate challenge worthy of a yellow card. Replacing Vieri as penalty-taker, the Brazilian delivered a clinical strike that sent Heinke the wrong way.

Baumann departs
Bremen's woes continued in the 36th minute when captain Baumann, who was injured in the challenge which led to the second penalty, had to be replaced by Ludovic Magnin. Inter nearly extended their lead on the stroke of half-time when Van der Meyde crossed for Vieri whose stabbed effort was directed straight at Heinke.

Zanetti loss
The second half started with a blow for Inter as they lost captain Javier Zanetti with what appeared to be a muscle strain. This did not affect the game's flow. In the 60th minute, Adriano again showed his prowess by dribbling into penalty box and delivering a precision pass Vieri, who once more shot at Heinke.

Bremen chance
Shortly afterwards, superb wing play from Emre set up Adriano who somehow sliced wide from five metres. Inter were almost punished for that miss as full-time approached but Miroslav Klose's close-range effort was blocked by defender Marco Materazzi in Bremen’s best chance of the game.

Final flair
Home fans, however, had no cause for concern as Adriano was to have the last word. The 22-year-old chested down a pass from Verón before placing a low shot into the bottom left corner of goal to seal a fine individual display.

Matchday 2 meetings
Bremen will welcome Valencia CF on 29 September as they attempt to get off the mark, while the side beaten 2-0 by the Spanish champions tonight, RSC Anderlecht, will be Inter's hosts the same day.
======================================

What a game by the team. Their were some very nice individual displays and some good connections. Adriano once again was on form while Vieri was not. Van der Meyde also played the best game he's ever played in an Inter shirt. Materazzi was also on form and Cordoba was alright as well.

Though it sucks that Stankovic and Javier Zanetti both got injured. Though luckily Cambi and Ze Maria where there to partner them.

Anywayz I'm looking forward for the next game and I hope that Emre starts again in the middle with Veron because those 2 can do really well together.

Though against Palermo I want to see Recoba start instead of Vieri and I want Cruz to start ahead of Adriano who deserves a rest.

Lonestar, Davids didn't play, bro.

MILAN, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Title hopefuls Inter Milan and champions AC Milan, both held to draws on the opening day of the Serie A season, will hope to replicate their positive starts in Europe in the domestic campaign.
Inter recovered from a disappointing 2-2 draw at Chievo by beating German champions Werder Bremen 2-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday with striker Adriano scoring both goals.

The Brazilian has scored six goals in four competitive games this season but his partner Christian Vieri is struggling for form and will be desperate to open his account against Palermo on Saturday (1930 BST).

The promoted Sicilians, enjoying their first season in the top flight for 31 years, began their season with a confident home win over Siena.

They also can boast an in-form striker in Luca Toni who has recently forced his way into Marcello Lippi's Italy side.

The San Siro is expected to host a healthy number of visiting supporters drawn from the thousands of Siclians who work in the north of Italy and have waited years for the chance to see Palermo competing among the best.

my lineup

(Zanetti= injured) Ze Maria----Cordoba------Materazzi--------Favalli

Van der Meyde--------Veron--------Davids-------Stankovic(Emre)

--------(Cruz, **** Vieri to hell)Martins-------------Adriano-----

Recoba is also injury, I think.

Inter doesn't rely on 1 player, mainly 2, Stankovic and Adriano who were instrumental last year. Though I'm sure that Emre, Van der Meyde, Davids, Martins, etc, etc will all chip in over time to really take the load off of Adriano.

Let me just start this by saying.......WHAT A FANTASTIC GAME!!!!

I finally got to see a full game involving Palermo and they looked great. Not at all out of place or scared. They played to win, which made this match an enjoyable one to watch. Gasbarroni (for the Juve folk who didn't get to see it) was fantastic in the first half,. Pace combined with technique and creativity. He drifted off to the left and attacked from the middle as a support striker very well.

Anyway, here are some key points from the game that stuck with me...

-VDM picked off from where he left off in the CL. His form was awesome, very lively and threatening whenever the ball was played to his side. He and Ze Maria combined so well.....Ze Maria especially had a fantastic outing (back to his late Parma early Perugia years, man) He still has enough pace to go along with his brilliant tackling, passing, crossing and freekicking taking.....what a useful pickup he's been.

-VDM's run into the middle in the 14th minute......rockman

-Cruz's fantastic swerving cross to Stankovic that almost led to a goal........infact, he had 2 great opportunities to score, but he was very unselfish and looked for Adriano instead (something you'll hardly see from Vieri) His first touch, ability to volley the ball and create goal scoring chances for others from the half line or in the box is just amazing. He should definitely be considered ahead of Vieri, no questions about it, man

-Materazzi's battle through out the match with Luca Toni......rockman, seriously, though, football associations should consider implementing a rule that makes players wear elbow pads...those elbows are serious weapons out there, man...ones made out of wool or something that'll smoothen out the elbow and lessen the impact of elbows to the face and neck area (nothing hurts more than being elbowed in the adam's apple, cheekbone, or the bridge of the nose......)

-beautiful ball from Veron to Ze Maria and an even better cross into Adriano by Ze Maria........Veron's genius passes make up for his lack of stamina and pace....one of the most intelligent distributors of the ball, man.

-David's run outside of Palermo's 18yrd box.......tremendous stuff from him, man......Adriano should've done better to finish that one off.

-Massive respect goes out to this Luca Toni kid. The most I know of him is some minor press clippings and his exploits for my Palermo team in CM. He's helped us defeat the likes of AC Milan and Roma, but seriously, his touch and finishing is superb....he's gotta be right up there with Gilardino, man. They're both the next protoypes of Vieri.

-Adriano........enough can't be said about this manchild beast...he puts so much effort into his kicks, attacks and recovery of the ball that I get scared that he'll pull his hamstring again like he did last season making that fantastic run down the middle for Parma (shudders) He's got the work rate of someone like Davids and combines that with his Godly pace, power, technique and finishing. The perfect footballer, man. He'll make plays for you both with his skill and determination, man.

You'd think (if you hadn't caught this match) by this positive post that we annihilated Palermo or something, but in all actuality, we drew with them in an evenly contested match. Palermo deserved what they got out of this match, man.

any news on how Karagounis and Choutos are fairing

hmmm....sorry, bro, I don't have any current info concerning the two Greeks, but dig this....Choutos, from what I've heard, was approached by us while he still had a contract with Olympiakos that had three months remaining on it, so in retaliation, Olympiakos suspended him for the remaining of his contract and the agreement he had with Inter was terminated...he's still on our practice squad, I think.

He also got injured twice in the preseason

Definitely catch that game if you get the chance, bro. The atmosphere was hair raising, bro. Plenty of Palermo fans making a lot of noise all through out the match aswell.

The finishing of clear cut opportunities and the results there after have been disappointing so far, but the commitment to attacking football has to be commended, man. I regard Milan's midfield as being the best in the world and our striker force being the best in the world, but with the form of our middlemen, I think were right up there with Milan at the moment, man.

I saw the game on tape delay and I was impressed with some aspects though the team can still improve.

I'm really surprised though that the attack has been the biggest problem. The side seems to have a tough time scoring and finishing off chances. Like Mancini said the game could have ended 4-1.

BTW what a blast from Adriano. 139 km/h :o

I have never seen a shot hit so hard that when it hit the cross bar it deflected back out of the box :o

Unfreakinbelievable :crazyboy:

i have watched the game and i m happy to see that Veron distributes the ball so well. But he shouldnt have got the yellow card. He argued with the referee that the wall was not 10 yards away and Veron finally hit the wall. :(

the Adriano's long shot is just so amazing! :rockman: but the crossbar disappoints me. Inter should have won this game.

I think in time once the team fully gels we will be awsome. Were making chances, soon enough they will be put away with more consitancy.
