The only defenders that do their jobs are Cordoba, J. Zanetti and Favalli is decent....that is all. Our midfield consists of two great containing midfielders in Cambiasso, and C. Zanetti, and a couple offensive midfielders in Veron, Stankovic (who has had maybe 2 or 3 good games all season) and, VDM (Who has the potential, but Mancini never gives him enough playing time).

Striking wise, Cruz is crap....IMO, I would rather see a hurt Vieri play than him. Martins is the future of Inter, I really hope they build the team around Martins. Adriano for me is up in limbo. I'm not sure how I feel about him, one day he looks like he wants to be with Inter forever, others it looks like he's playing as if he wants to get transferred. Vieri still has some football left in him (but is very injury prone) and King Recoba never gets his chances to play.

Mancini needs to get the foot out of his ass and wake up.

I think Inter's current roster has a great foundation, but they just need a couple additions. They need to buy a top class LB, someone to partner Cordoba (whyd they resign Materazzi until 2009?) and than replace the midfielders and forwards I feel should move on.

Its time to let Recoba, Materazzi, Coco (wish him luck), Emre, Gamarra, Davids, Kily and Julio Cruz move on. They need to make their side smaller, and have bench players like Emre replaced by someone who doesnt expect to start every game, but can always be counted on.

They should definately keep Van Der Meyde, and start to make him a regular for the rest of this season. Their number one goal has to be to get a top class CB, something they gave up to Juve (cannavaro) for a pack of peanuts.

I dont see why they need to replace Toldo, unless its for Buffon, Casillas, Dida or maybe Cech, because as of right now those are the only keepers I rate higher. Is Frey really a step up? I dont think so

I actually feel very secure with Toldo in net....He has been great for us this year. And we have Carini as a backup, who looks very promising.

Moratti To Quit?

4/13/2005 4:11:00 PM

The Nerazzurri’s Patron had already stepped down as President of Inter during this season.

Massimo Moratti’s future with Inter seems to have come to a sudden and abrupt end. Following Tuesday night’s incidents which, according to the latest speculations, were contestations held by the fans towards the Patron, Moratti has apparently decided to sell the club and leave the football world altogether.

President Facchetti has refused to comment on these rumours but underlined the disgraceful events which the entire world witnessed.

“I’m disappointed for yesterday’s episodes which were serious and condemnable.”

what are your thoughts about this.......

Inter should cut down the squad size. Get a WORLD CLASS defender and then Inter will have a super team.

The most important thing is though, to keep Mancini.

Ancelotti in his first season got to the semis of the UEFA Cup (got beaten 4-0 by Dortmund) and only finished fourth in Serie A.

The next season (his first FULL season), he won the Champions League and Coppa Italia and the next season he won the European Super Cup and the Scudetto. This season he has already won the Italian Super Cup and is on course for both the Scudetto and the Champions League.

Inter, if given time, have a *slight* chance of achieving just one of that (H)

World class defenders ? Why in the world do we need the class defenders ? It'd be a laughing matter by other fans if Inter fail to win a trophy.

All Inter need are 'the fighters' in the field.

Further blow for Adriano
by Nadia Carminati - created on 14 Apr 2005

Internazionale striker Adriano has been dealt another injury blow just days after recovering from a troublesome knee ligament problem.

The electric Brazilian striker had to be removed in the second half of the abortive Milan derby on Tuesday night as he complained of back problems.

Whilst a relapse of the knee problem that originally kept him out for three weeks was initially feared, it has now been confirmed that this is not the case.

Further tests are scheduled to ensure that no other complications are present, and the 23-year-old has been definitely ruled out of Sunday's Serie A clash with Cagliari.

However Roberto Mancini could be deprived of his attacking talisman for a more extended spell, as reports suggest that Adriano could struggle to make the massive fixture with Juventus on April 20.

The Milan outfit had only just welcomed the player back, and will once again rue the absence of the prolific front-man who has proved himself to be one of Europe's most exciting talents over the past season.

another week of julio crap as our striker...oh god Bobo please come back...PLEASE

Veron unsure of future
by Patricio Figueroa - created on 14 Apr 2005

Juan Sebastian Veron has admitted he is unsure where his future lies.

The Argentine ace is currently on a season-long loan at Internazionale from Chelsea after dropping down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Inter are believed to be keen on signing Veron on a permanent basis, but the former Manchester United star is unsure of his future.

"I don't know what is Inter's idea, neither if Chelsea wants me to return," Veron told Argentine radio station La Red.

"I am going to stay until my contract expires and then I will analyze what chances exist for me."

The 30-year-old has admitted he would like to return to his native Argentina soon and revealed he has an offer to join River Plate.

"It's true that I want to return to Argentina and in a short time, I don't know if in June or next year. At the age of 30, I can still play but it depends on
Inter and Chelsea," added Veron.

"I want to end my career at Estudiantes but before that, I would like to have a good and important experience in one of the big teams from Buenos Aires.

"River or Boca? If I have an offer from one side and not from the other, I have to analyze that offer. I would like to have some time in a big team.

"River have opened their doors to me, their president has been very clear about that to me.

"He wants me to play at River now or in the future and I am very thankful to him about that offer."

I really like Veron...but Inter doesn't need another player that is only there to pass the time until he goes to the team he wants....We need dedicated Nerazzurri that play with all their heart for the team.. Ahh

Stadium ban and fine for Inter
Friday, 15 April 2005

UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body has ordered FC Internazionale Milano to play their next six European club competition matches behind closed doors. Of these six matches, the last two are under a probationary period of three years according to Article 15 bis of the disciplinary regulations.

This means that if a further offence is committed during the probationary period, the disciplinary body may order the original sanction to be executed in addition to disciplinary sanctions for the second offence. In addition, Inter have been fined 300,000 CHF.

The UEFA Champions League quarter-final second-leg tie has been awarded to AC Milan as a 3-0 forfeit and Milan therefore go through to the semi-finals on a 5-0 aggregate. An appeal against any of these decisions can be submitted within three days from the receipt of the written grounds.

Six games. Ouch, that is going to hurt the club. That's pretty much a whole Champions League Season. Better than being completely banned though :(

ZE MARIA, MARTINS STRIKES SINK CAGLIARI
Sunday, 17 April 2005 17:01:52
MILAN - Zé Maria 's first goal for Inter since joining the club last summer plus a magnificent solo effort by Obafemi Martins gave the Nerazzurri a convincing 2-0 victory over Cagliari in Sunday's Serie A Week 31 match at the Giuseppe Meazza.

Gennaro Iezzo pulled off good saves to deny Cruz and Cambiasso in the opening half hour, then surpassed himself with a parry from Mihajlovic's free kick on 33 minutes. But there was nothing the Cagliari keeper could do to stop Zé Maria smashing home Inter's opener five minutes before half time after Obafemi Martins bamboozled two opponents on the left then played square to the Brazilian.

Martins doubled for the Nerazzurri with a sensational goal twenty minutes after the restart. The Nigerian sprinted on to Veron's forward pass, powered past Agostini then sidestepped Iezzo before slotting into an open goal.

Second-half substitute Christian Vieri went close to a third goal late on when his strike from the distance was parried by Iezzo then hit the post.

The result sees Inter move five points clear of fourth-placed Sampdoria ahead of Wednesday's clash with Serie A leaders Juventus at the Delle Alpi.

INTER 2-0 CAGLIARI (HT: 1-0)

Scorers: Zé Maria 40, Martins 65

INTER 1 Toldo, 4 J. Zanetti , 9 Cruz (32 Vieri 70), 11 Mihajlovic, 13 Zé Maria , 14 Veron, 16 Favalli (7 van der Meyde 85), 18 Kily González, 19 Cambiasso, 23 Materazzi (24 Gamarra 72), 30 Martins
Subs not used: 15 Carini, 6 C.Zanetti, 21 Karagounis, 49 Andreolli
Coach: Roberto Mancini

===========================================

The team did very well to win this one. The defence totally owned Cagliari allowing them only 1 chance on goal the whole game. 1 chance, impressive. Though it's a shame we lost both Materazzi and Andy VDM to injuries, but atleast Materazzi's isn't too serious, but who knows about Andy? Anywayz what's important now is to just keep picking up victories and finish as high as possible. I'm not worried at all about us losing our 3rd spot.

BTW our next game is Wednesday against Juventus. Hopefully some more players can be ready for that one since I want nothing less then a black and white massacre. :jap:

Man, what a great result after all the **** that's been surrounding the team. Ze Maria's goal was class, and Martins got a little lucky on the 2nd one. When Bobo came on for Cruz, Meazza roared. It was a fantastic sight, I wish he could have scored a goal for the Nerazzurri faithful, he had two terrific chances.

If we play like this again against Cagliari in Coppa, we will be seeing Udinese or Roma in the finals no problem.

edit: Materazzi is doubtful for the game against Juve on wednesday with a twisted knee, and VDM will find out probably tomorrow if their is any strain/pull/tear to his groin

MATERAZZI, VAN DER MEYDE TEST RESULTS
Monday, 18 April 2005 17:04:36

MILAN - The Inter staff carried out medical tests on Marco Materazzi and Andy van der Meyde today to assess the extent of the injuries suffered by both players in the second half of Sunday's victory over Cagliari.

The central defender has a sustained a slight left-knee sprain without any damage to ligaments, and a slight injury to the capsule and posterior tendons, while the Dutch winger has suffered a second-degree myotendinous injury to the long adductor muscle in his left leg.

Both Materazzi and van der Meyde have already started the first cycle of therapy.

do we have a resident doctor here that can decipher what exactly that means? From the sounds of it, they are going to be out a few weeks..

also, Stankovic and Emre returned to the squad
