Intertoto Cup

can someone please explain how teams actually qualify for the Intertoto Cup, as Hibs were in it this year and fulham a few years ago, but to my knowledge they didnt do well in the leagues

all clubs till the 12th place in the league are invited to participate by their FA's. if all clubs accepted the bests classified will play the cup (acording to the number of spots the country has). For example Portugal has two spots but only Leiria accepted to play in the Intertoto and they were 8th last season in SuperLiga. Portugal gave up of the other spot.

Yea, and it has 3 winners. Those 3 get to play in the UEFA cup.

yes, i forgot to mention that. only non-qualified teams to the uefa tournaments (CL and UEFA) are allowed to play the Intertoto

it's intertoto because the cup was created to maintain the football bet games during the summer

Yeah, the Intertoto Cup is a great incentive.

Villarreal is a perfect example.

I think it's a good idea, though many sides pull out in the fear it will eventually cause the team to break down because of too much games.

i like this cup, it gives smaller clubs a hance to participate in big ass competitions like the UEFA cup.
